I picked up my Devastator from the LMS on saturday, but realistically I can't see myself starting it this side of christmas (still got the Mig21 in the other GB to finish off).
Its one of the new boxings that is made in India (I thought they were moving manufacturing to China). Overall the quality of the kit looks fine (the rear mounted MG actually looks like an MG) but the front transparancy looks quite poor (particularly the slot for the sighting tube)
I'll probably be going for the yellow winged version as I quite enjoyed making a Buffalo in a similar scheme last year. _________________ Nothing travels faster than light, with the possible exception of bad news, which follows its own rules. –Douglas Adams- |

A brief update (of sorts). I'm having a few camera issues and can't take any pics right now, hopefully this will be sorted very soon.
This means I'm slowing the build a tad, so that I don't just rush ahead, complete it and end up posting pics of the finished model.
Interior built up a bit and painted. Holding fire on sealing it until I can take some pics. _________________ Nothing travels faster than light, with the possible exception of bad news, which follows its own rules. –Douglas Adams- |

Camera working again!
Here are the Three Amigos, eagerly awaiting their plane. I took an educated guess at the uniform colours. Hopefully the unfinished "edges" will be invisible in the plane (didn't realise how noticable they are)
Heres the interior. Built up with plasticard as the supplied one is too narrow and doesn't reach the sides (by some considerable margin). Had a bit of a mare painting it as I paint brushed it with a Revell enamel and the coverage was pathetic to say the least. What you see is 3 coats worth.
More to come soon! _________________ Nothing travels faster than light, with the possible exception of bad news, which follows its own rules. –Douglas Adams- |

Hope it's not too late but I think the interior was alluminium, although 'some', 'may' have 'possibly' been overpainted in interior green?
If it doesn't bother you then don't fret it. |

Fair point well made Morgandude. The interior is now aluminium (well silver )
When I was putting the furniture into the cockpit last night I noticed the aircraft has what looks like two joysticks. The pilots joystick I can understand. But what puzzles me is the joystick for the middle crewman. Can anyone enlighten me about what this is for?
Many Thanks _________________ Nothing travels faster than light, with the possible exception of bad news, which follows its own rules. –Douglas Adams- |

That is correct. The second cockpit had duplicate controls and instrument panel. I suspect that the occupant could only fly the aircraft after it was already airborne as he would seem to have virtually no forward vision. _________________ Roger. |

Just a brief update on this. Both the red and yellow areas have now been painted. Next step is to mask off and paint the aluminium surfaces.

Heh, late as usual. here's the plane approching the final stages. No idea wht the tail looks so glossy, it only had a single coat of Klear on it at this stage.
Well the build is finally finished. If I can be honest, I didn't really enjoy this one and it was a relief to be done. But why didn't you enjoy it I hear you ask (well someone might )
Decals. They were a flaming nightmare. They were the dreaded brown backed decals from a recent boxing. The roundels went on OK, but the numbering, that was so akward it was unbelivable. Even when I could coax the decals off the backing (and they had been soaking for ages), they would go into one of two states.
1) If in the wrong spot on the airplane they would stick like cement, breaking apart at the slightest atempt to move them.
2) If in the correct spot they showed all the adhesive qualities teflon, falling off the plane even with the power of a hard stare.
Here is the finished plane.
