Here we go chaps.
I don't think I'm going to bother with the trailer as I quite like the LR on it's own.
This is my first non aircraft build & I have to say I'm a little disappointed at how small the kit is! Now I've thought about it it makes perfect sense, but for some reason I opened the box expecting it to be a lot bigger... But never mind eh, I'm about to start, so will update you later. _________________ --.. --- -. . / -.-. .- .-.. .-.. / .-- --- --- -.. |

haha! I'm not finished due to extremely poor paint call outs, & inexperience building wheely kits. There was no colour call for the interior so I went with interior Green for the dash & back, & "leather" for the seats. I rarely peer through the windows of my kits anyway, so I'll not be fussed if that's inaccurate!
I'm biulding a matchbox provost, so I'm going to wait until thats finished before spraying the underside parts (chassis?) silver. I can then dirty it up a little.
A lot of fun so far, an excellent little kit.

Certainly looks better than the one in the Bristol Bloodhound kit. _________________ Collectable kits built here. Baggies, blisters or boxed. You collect 'em, but I'll build 'em. |

Lots of progress since my last post. Exhausty bottom part is now on. (chassis?) & it's been painted. Annoyingly, I picked it up before the paint was dry with plastic filings all over my fingers. I'll have to do some tidying up when it's dry... I'm quite enjoying it though!

A gentle rub back with a fine sanding pad should sort that out mate.....Looking pretty good!

Thanks Sarge,
Am I the only one who thinks the soft top not only doesn't look particularly soft, but doesn't even match the one on the box?! _________________ --.. --- -. . / -.-. .- .-.. .-.. / .-- --- --- -.. |

That looks very much like a hard top to me mate!

PS - You could probably make a reasonable canvas tilt out of it with some hard core abrasives! _________________ ATF Unverified Spam Appreciation Society - Founding Member

Nothing of any interest to photograph as I've been doing little bits since the last picture was taken (sanding plastic filings out of black paint is hardly riveting!). I'm having trouble attaching the chassis to the body as the glue doesn't seem to take if you're gluing two painted parts together. I've also painted the front bumper that I'd forgotten to add at the start! So I'm on the home straight & will post pictures when I'm done, which shouldn't be long now. _________________ --.. --- -. . / -.-. .- .-.. .-.. / .-- --- --- -.. |

All done!
I found this astonoshingly hard to photograph, & when I finally got the camera focused, it revealed many a flaw I hadn't even noticed! The filings I didn't remove I painted over, & they are invisible in normal light, but the flash has blown them up massively & made it look like I haven't even bothered! As with most of my builds, It looks a thousand times better on the shelf than under the glare of the flash, but overall I'm pleased with it.
More photos in the gallery.
Would I do another? Hmm, probably not, as although it sounds slightly soppy, I enjoy building planes because generally speaking I find the real things fascinating and/or beautiful, & I'm afraid Land Rovers & Tanks don't really fulfill either criteria, particularly on the beauty side! I have very much enjoyed the group build though, & always loke seeing everyone else's builds go together. _________________ --.. --- -. . / -.-. .- .-.. .-.. / .-- --- --- -.. |

haha I'd consider doing another group build, don't think I'm off to my LMS yet. I just don't find them attractive at all!
Can anyone work out how I got a hard top in a soft top box? Is it a packing mistake or a "kit description" mistake? _________________ --.. --- -. . / -.-. .- .-.. .-.. / .-- --- --- -.. |

I've checked with the Airfix website and you've got the hardtop Landrover. Your kit matches the artwork for that kit. This looks like a packing mistake! _________________ Collectable kits built here. Baggies, blisters or boxed. You collect 'em, but I'll build 'em. |
