Anyway, here are the current kits that the artist formerly known as farmroad38 is considering building for Telford 09.

1/144 F20 Tigershark - on the grounds that it's unusual, was released in the 90s, and we're going to have trouble scraping together many kits for that decade.

Star Wars AT-AT - bought this at Hendon today.  Thought it would look pretty cool in a little diorama.

Love to see the AT-AT, how big is the actual kit?

According to the box, 200mm tall.  Legs are about 120mm long, body about 150mm long.

Should look pretty good when it's built up - comes with little snowspeeders and laser-cannon towers, hence the idea of doing a dio.

The history reckons it's 1/75th scale, but based on the size of the speeders, I would seriously doubt that - probably nearer something like 1/100-1/144 maybe?

My brother and I had a number of the Airfix (or MPC) Star Wars kits, but not this one.  Really looking forward to making it.

Edit:  Doing a little research on the AT-AT, various geeky sites (pot-kettle-black) list it as either 15 or 22.5 metres high.  Taking the smaller size would make it 1/75, whilst the larger would give 1/112.5 - I'd go for the latter.

Furtling around in my stash, I realised I'd got this:

1/32 M3 Grant Tank.

Should I give that a bash too?

Started on the AT-AT tonight.

Box top.

Few of the sprues, showing the snow speeders, body parts and legs.

And after half an hour of gluing, starting to take shape!

First impressions are:  Wow!  This is big!  I'd say the dimensions on the box are a bit of an underestimate.  Fit is okay, but some of the sections which are in two parts don't match up that well.  Going to need to whip out the needle files to tidy it up.  Should be very impressive when it's finished though.

Ayup Adrian...

Looking Good.

Now i don't have to build mine... LOL.

The Sprue gates look hefty on those speeders though... did they take careful snipping off or not ?

The speeders are quite nicely moulded, although the two halves don't actually fit together that well.   Sprues are relatively chunky on all the parts, so do need careful cutting.

Oh dear, not many updates in here are there?

However, I can report that I have been working on these this week, and both the F20 and AT-AT will be coming with me to Telford!  Both still need a little final furtling, but I can do that when I'm there

Wish I'd seen this thread sooner.....I have some great reference materiel for that Airfix 1/32 Grant that you have stashed.

It's a wonderful kit and uniquely Airfix, so it should be an option for a future display.....I'm a bit jealous TBH!

All the best
