Ok - decision made.  Something straightforward from the box.

Fuselage inspection - along with the instructon sheet.  A somewhat short build but it certainly looks a good size and ideal kit for a 1st model.

Wings - look good though flash around ejector pins needs sanding.

Close up of ejector marks - these were sanded right down to allow flush fitting of wing halves when they are glued.

Step 3 complete - in 2 minutes

I've a feeling a dedicated modeller could polish this off in a few hours!

Gluing of the 2 sides - also the top and bottom of the engines and in turn gluing to the fuselage - then alot of sanding/filling!

Just plodding along.....

Fuselage was sprayed gloss white - yet to get a good polishing

Wings were also sprayed a light gloss gray - the leading edge was then covered with a bare metal foil. The flaps will then be finished an aluminium colour.

Looks very good so far, what will you polish it with?

I'm using Neopol to polish it.  It takes away the ripple effect on the spine so it looks very sleek and almost like fibreglass.

Same effect as here when done - so when pics are taken it's scale will not be obvious.

And to add to Ratch's question, was that Enamel paint from an airbrush or car type from a rattle-can?

It's actually a furniture polish suitable for using on plastics. It's a silicone wax type cream that I apply after spraying (can or airbrush) whereby when paint is applied it is 'misted' on.   So on a microscopic level the surface is actually a layer of small blobs - like many small peaks and troughs.

When the polish is applied it 'levels' the peaks so that the finish is dead smooth.  You can't readily apply it to brushed stuff as the brush marks show up.

It's made here in NZ and has a nice fragance (which is a nice change from paint and solvents) and gives a nice semi gloss sheen at the same time without drying unevenly as Klear can do.  It also takes off dust and grit blobs blown out by the airbrush.  So I've found it to be ideal (for me anyway) - unfortunately it's used as much as the airbrush and I've airbrushed paint all over the instructions of it before spraying a kit but can put a pic when I progress with this kit to the next stage (hopefully this weekend).  Best part is when it's on it resists  fingerprints as it also protects (can be used on stainless steel too).

Cheers

Sorry,

Should be getting back into this - not far to go - it's not hard - just been a bit unwell.

It hasn't progressed much but I've dug around and am about to trim the blue paint and add the rear tailplanes.  I'm thinking off a 'wheels up' build for this too.
