Cheers Daniel!

Hiro the horse-handler has been rearmed with something a little more suitable to his trade:

His equine charge and its load are still in several bits!

All the best

Try some railway accessory stockists

I'm sure I used to have cows, sheep and pigs on my layout

I'm all pigged up and am beginning to investigate my base!

Are you going for a patch of dense rainforsts Sgt., or something a bit more in the open?

Just the house and it's imediate environs on the base, but I will probably have a bash at a small stand of trees too.....It's all proceeding rather slowly right now as I'm spending an awful lot of time training the puppy.

All the best

I've finally moved this one forward a little.....Construction of the base for the house is now well underway.  I've used plastic card both for the base itself and to build up some of the terrain.  This structure is then being covered in Milliput, before being textured and having some details added.

Front View - Milliput cladding with basic texturing

Rear View - Plastic card structure exposed

I'm also searching out useful roots and the like to begin adding some foliage to the scene once the base is covered.....I'm hoping to place climbing plants to cover the various joints that couldn't be hidden with lashings.  I'm also putting a couple of trees on the base, most probably palms made using the 'Feather Technique' linked to in the reference section.

For what it's worth & all the best
Sgt.S

It's taken a while to get back to it.....The base is about 12" accross at the widest, which is right at the upper edge of my available space!

Any chance of an extension to the deadline?

All the best
Sgt.S
PS - The total absence of Hu29 & Hu30 spray cans in Worcestershire is causing me major gyp too!

Any progress sgt? this was looking like a good dio.

For climbing plants did you think about looking in garden centres for some form of flower arranging kit?

I'm finally back in business with this one.....I've started the process of creating the pig enclosure (with fine wire from the netting on a posh bottle of plonk) and am still toiling with the lashings in an attempt to hide ugly joints.  The 'skeleton' of the diorama is almost completely 'skinned' with Miliput, but I ran out and keep forgetting to buy more.  As for foliage, I'll be using a wide wariety of techniques in an attempt to create a fairly wide variety of flora.....Fauna will be limited to a pony and a trio of pot-bellied pigs, unless someone has another pig (of novel shape) that they want to trade for one of my many clones.

All the best
Sgt.S

Cheers Paul, but one of each shape should be sufficient.....They are being individually based and treated as figures in their own right.  What I'm really after is a sow nursing a few piglets, but my search for such a thing has been fruitless to date.

All the best
Sgt.S
PS - I've neither forgotten 'Of Pigs & Astronauts' nor 'Old School Figurines'.....I'm working on the former and I haven't yet got round to doing the climbing involved in sorting the latter, but I will soon!

PPS - Actually I could possibly use one more fluro-pig for another, sort of related project!  Think

Tempting though it is.....Nope!

I've got a special project in mind for another upcoming GB.....The pig may play a minor cameo role.

All the best

I swear by all the gods of Valhalla that if I never have to rig a pig-sty again, it will still be too soon!

All the best
Sgt.S
PS - Pics when the diorama and I reach a happy place!

PPS - I discovered that my pack of pigs actually has two slightly different poses, so we are up to a trio of porkers!
