This kit was first released in the "Model world of Airfix" set in 1984 and had a different number than the '89 release, 9 03046 I think. Perhaps this should have a separate entry ? Or maybe the '89 entry changed to '84 ?

From the Airfix Kit List

Kamov Ka-25B Hormone            9 03046
1/72 scale. Available in 1985 as part of "Model World of Airfix" set.

Kamov Ka-25B Hormone            03058
1/72 scale. Variation on 03042. Available from 1989 to 1995.

Well spotted! These are the same kit. I will combine the entries in the kit list.

I wonder if I need new glasses. There IS a separate entry for 03046 - I can't get how I could not see it, possibly cause I just looked under '84. Apologies !

I got one in '87 or '88 in a "blueprint" box.

That must have been the special issue for the "MWoA" set, as pictured in the list - the Type 9 issue was the first "regular" appearance of the B that I'm aware of (as opposed to the A/C, which was first released in a "blueprint").

Oh, now you have me wondering ... it might have been the A/C. It was white, with a red top

I brush-painted it all, and coated it with a gloss varnish, which eventually yellowed a little. I forget why I brushed it ... but I wouldn't paint white or red that way again!

The red/white kit is the Kamov A/C

argh, the Kamov A/C... the last 1/72 aircraft I ever built, before fleeing to the robust safety of 1/35th scale armour in my youth. What an awkward little blighter it was (well, for moi at the time anyway)...

Surprisingly I never built it, but from looking at one recently, I again found I like the kit, as I do with most Airfix choppers. But the Sea Sprite is yet a couple of notches better. One of Airfix's all-time greats.
