Thank you for the generous comments.
The model was a tail sitter so I removed the undercart sub assemblies and filled the engine nacelles with some more lead.
Also finished painting the interior of the rear cockpit and added the radar operator.
Before adding the canopy or completing the superchargers I have decided to do the first coat of paint, overall Hu21

Making progress albeit slowly, Hu21 and cool weather slow things down markedly.
Drop tanks added and also reattached the radar pod.
Completed the Hu21 overall.
Turning my attention to the Superchargers. The units (on the left of the photo) in the kit are incorrect for the P38M. So I kept the original part for the rear and made up the new front section.
This also involved opening up the top of the boom to take the new 'one piece' supercharger
I'm also making progress on the canopy though again this is slow progress while I wait for the gloss black to dry.
My next step will be to fit the guns and also need to start thinking about some decals. |

I don't envy you all that gloss black.....I'd have been inclined to use Hu33 with several coats of Klear to gloss it up.
Just a thought, all the best

Cheers Andy
It is an excellent thought and I wish I had considered it, however done now. I do note though that the gloss finish of Hu21 has hidden some of the blemishes far better than the Hu33 would have. I'll try and do some shots under natural light. Still working on the canopy framing, should be done by Friday.
Then the decals - the decal bank failed to yield anything suitable other than the national insignia so it will be off to my local LMS for some decal sheet. |

Finally done. Completed the turbosuperchargers and added the canopy for the radar operator.
A second search of the decal bank yielded some appropiate serials and markings.
Thanks to all the participants , some really great builds in the GB and I have followed all with interest and apologise to those whom I did not make comment on. Of course a special thank you to AFCBGeorge for leading this one.
Cheers Heinkel51
Now only 78 uncomplete builds inc 9 GB's - to work |
