Thanks for having me along

After browsing the half price kits in my local Hobbycraft, I decided to go for the 1:48 Seafire IIIc.  The best £5.83 that I've ever spent...

The last 1:48 scale kit I did was a Me 109F back when the kit was first released!  I'm planning to build it pretty much straight from the box, but I'll see what happens ;)  Now, just got to finish off a beaufighter and start a Halifax...

No pictures, but I've started work on the pilot and cockpit.  I'll take some pictures and attempt to complete the internals and join the 2 fuselage halves this weekend...

A hurried pic of Biggles and some of his 'office' from my mobile phone this morning.

The interior is ready to be fitted, but cutting the slot in the bottom of the fuselage for the arrestor hook has caused problems - the slot in one side of the fuselage is bigger than the other(!)  I'm going to have to do a test fit and some filling/filing to get it looking good.

In the meantime I've started work on the wings, so I think that it will soon get to that magical point when it starts to look like a plane.

Thankfully, my Airifx club set of planes arrived on Saturday, so if all else fails, I can throw an alternative kit together in an evening!

I've made progress on the wings and have managed to tidy up the hole cut in the fuselage for the arrestor hook equipment.  This will require some sanding and filling, but this cannot be done until the fuselage halves are attached....

Hoping to join the fuselage halves this weekend, then fill/sand the gaps, then it should all be plain sailing from there.

I just need to hunt down Humbrol 224 (dark slate grey), I've tried 3 different model shops, and no-ones got it - I might have to mix it myself which is always interesting because I'm colour-blind!

I promise some pictures this weekend....honest!

As promised - here are some better pictures of the build...

Biggles in his office...

Both halves of the fuselage are now together...

But this is the area which needs work - nothing a little bit of filler won't fix ;)

Ayup T.S. ....

Good progress mate.

Nice accurate work. I'm sure you'll conquer this problem area too...

I apologise for the long time between updates, but I've been distracted by other kits and work and things....

I finally resolved some of the issues with  the poor fitting arrestor hook area, fully assembled and painted the kit, and spent a happy 2 hours last weekend fixing the decals...and that's where my problems started.

The decals didn't seem to be adhering properly but I managed to get them all in place.  I then went away on holiday for 5 days to come back and find that almost every one of the smaller decals has curled itself off the model, leaving just the larger roundels still in place.

I think I might just use this model for extreme weathering practice and see how it turns out
