I'll be attempting 02452 1/32 1933 MG Magnette for the simple reason it's the only car I have in my stash.
The box is marked "Special Edition", the copyright is dated 1988 and the painting instructions have both the Humbrol the Airfix colour reference numbers so I guess this particular kit has been loitering in the cupboard for some years.
Aye

Kick off pic.
I'm slightly disappointed that there're no chrome parts, I might struggle with the finish on the radiator for example, but what the hey, I'm sure I'll enjoy the build.
I will be a late starter on this though, probably after Wed 29th due to Project YOU, First She Lord's birthday and herding OPKs for a week or so.
Aye,

Looks like I've got a bit of catching up to do!
Here's the story so far:
Chassis and running gear....
... and some general painting
I'm using Revell acrylic Fiery Red, and Hu56 for running gear/suspension. A satin pale grey for shaft tunnel and floor, and matt black enamel. I've not used acrylics before and the red is taking a bit of getting used to. I'm trusting to varnish and/or Klear to bring the finish up.
Waiting on some chrome foil for the shiny bits, and scratching my head about how I'm going to get it on the wheels.
A bit more flashing than I'd like and the plastic feel flimsy, already resulting in a couple of breakages.
Still, could be quite a nice piece when it's finished. Just need a pot of cavalry twill for the driver.

Some progress:
After four coats of the Revell acrylic red the cover and finish still isn't quite right.......
My daughter suggested I use one of her "gel pens" for the chrome surfaces.... I think it looks fine but it is a bit delicate and will run if painted over.
The driver just needs his bow tie and a bit of polish for his brogues. And his arms, I guess, with their slightly shot cuffs.
I think I'm going to topcoat the red on the exterior surfaces with Hu 19. I've tested Klear (x 4 coats) on the remains of Carlos Reuteman's Ferrari I built ages past and the finish isn't as good as with the enamel gloss.

Thanks Jesper.
Here she is with the (I think) much improved gloss finish:
Nearly done. I might even get this finished today.

The finished article.
Interior, hood cover, seats, tyres and silvered pieces "fixed" with Klear, likewise the rather disappointing number plates (which are paper, cut from the instructions).
"Wupert" the driver does indeed have shiny brogues but they're hidden.
The rear axle looks set to far to the rear for the mudguards which, along with the headlamps, were a bit of a fiddle.
All in all, enjoyable and it made a change to get away from things military.
Yours aye,
Chris

Thanks for the encouragement, all.
Wupert has just been told he's been dwopped fwom the wugger 1st XV but he's keeping a stiff upper lip.
He starts at (Dartmouth/Sandhurst/Cranwell, according to your bias) next term anyway, so he'll have another chance for sporting glory.
