I shall be looking out for a nice 1:72 kit of some sort over the next couple of weeks. Not sure what model yet, but I have been quite entranced by this colour scheme. Anybody hazard a guess what tin of paint would come out looking like that?

I'm thinking more Hu 73 or Hu 113. It looks like a primer red/brown.

I went off the original picture pdf with the humbrol enamel paint chart in acrobat professional in a window next to it. With my monitor Crimson or Humbrol Wine (I forget the number) looked the closest. But without a FS or BS or RLM number any of us could be right.

I'd say it is almost certainly U.S. "insignia red" FS 31136.  According to this site

http://f-86.tripod.com/colours333.html

that would translate to Hu 153.

Not got a lot done to be honest. I've actually been slightly paralysed by the lack of a couple of paints (HU 67 & 56) which are needed for some of the initial building work. However, I think I'll just see what I can get by with and at least give Hermann a coat this evening.

There weren't any noticeable pin marks anywhere on the kit, but there was quite a bit of flash around the wings and everything else too really. So I spent a wee while cleaning that off during the tennis yesterday.

Not a lot. Had to clear the living room for visitors then had to endure the Tuscan sun for a couple of weeks and not had a chance to get the stuff back out of the cupboard yet. Hopefully be able to get it out at the weekend or early next week.

Before that I did manage to pick up a couple of paints and finish off the interior.

Ah. Managed to get it back out of the cupboard and spent an evening during the week getting it up to this stage:

Masked up the cockpit and had a go at spraying on a coat of primer this afternoon. It was my first time...

Should hopefully be able to get on to the serious painting in the next day or two.
