Thanks Paula,I will be building the 1:32 Triumph TR4A.
So the box..
The sprues..
The first stage was to do something with the dreadful engine..So after much cleaning up I have a reasonable looking unit.
I decided that since the grill looks good to enhance it,so out with the scriber and the slats were opened up.
Next up was to jig the inner tub up,once convinced that the parts would fit (the instructions are to put it mildly, vague!) they were glued.
The effort was worth it,the tub is a perfect fit.
More soon. _________________ Nigel.

Cheers Tim.
I plan on wiring the distributor and plugs, and the battery too-may scratch this as the kit item is too big.
I will also plumb in the radiator.
I have a sneaky plan for the dash...Have to see if it works. _________________ Nigel.

Thanks Jesper.
This morning it was out with the pin drill and the head, dizzy and coil got the treatment, then the engine was sprayed satin black. The rocker cover (on back to front ) and gearbox were brushed silver, then I fitted the plug leads.
Then the stromberg carbs got worked on,I fitted a brass wire throttle linkage, then drilled the carbs for a fuel link hose and throttle cable.
After painting they were fitted and the hose & cable fitted.
Next up is the dash...Since it is a wood veneer dash I decided to shave the original dash panel flat, then a bit of 1mm balsa was sanded down till it was wafer thin. This was superglued on and so far it has had about a dozen coats of Klear. It still need work but is getting there.
Here is a mock up of the body, the shell was sprayed Ford bermuda blue and the interior brushed H94.

Ayup Bruv...
Lovely neat work. And a lovely colour blue. The Dash looks like a winner. i knew you'd have to tweak it somewhere!
I take it you've seen that slight gap in the Wheelarch... ? _________________ Airfix Member 022... Jolly Boy.

Ayup Stu,
Cheers my friend,it is only a mock up-the inner tub isn't fitted properly so the chassis is low too.
The instructions are naff in this kit hence the jigging (no Irish jokes here LOL)
It is such a lovely car that it deserves the treatment.

Not sure about the UK dealers, but in Ireland you could have any colour of your choice. _________________ Nigel.

Cheers Paula,
HeHe Stu.
So the dash was finished off I applied a few decals, these were sealed in with more Klear. Then ignition and indicator lights were done with sharpies, same with the switches at the bottom of the dash.
After this the rear suspension was assembled...Again the instructions were about as much use as a chocolate teapot!I dry fitted the wishbones in order to work out where the diff should locate
Got there in the end.
So after putting my toys back in the pram I made a new battery from Plastruct U section and boxed it in,it is much more to scale. As you can see I have drilled the bulkhead,as it will be wired once fitted.
Last bit for the day was fitting the front suspension and painting the underside matt black.

Cheers Chris.
It's a funny kit you know, the shell looks realy great but the underside lets it down. But then it is an old kit!
So the inner tub has been fitted flush with the body, the wheels and tyres have been painted and assembled. The grill and windscreen frame are painted silver also, here is how she looks at the moment.

Well...Whilst this is a nice looking kit,I have had major grief trying to mate parts up (last night it nearly hit the wall during floorpan fitting!!)
So I have changed my plan for this build..Dont worry,it will be completed.Just slightly differently.
Tonight I fabricated a new near side front wing from thin alloy sheet and am in the process of making a new bonnet from the same.............
All will be revealed tomorrow. _________________ Nigel.

As I said things have changed on this build,so here is the wing and bonnet that I made.
Then the valance and most of the wing were cut off!!! I drew a deep breath then went for it.
The inner arch and suspension unit was pushed backwards..
The wing and new valance were fitted with C.A.
Same with the bonnet.
The next stage involved a cigarette,a deep breath and a mitre box....
With the wheels off I positioned a mitre box about 6'' away from the TR,had a smoke and then slid the kit into the box. This was repeated twice to represent a pretty hard front impact-phew! it worked
Followed by a quick mask and front end respray.
After this I fitted the soft top, rear bumper, rear lights, handles and spinners ect.
..................................
It is finished now after some weathering.I will put a couple of pics in the gallery in a mo. _________________ Nigel.
