Thanks chaps. Yes Paul. airbrushed freehand on the upper surfaces and masked off on the lower of the German one.

heres my take on the airfix 1977 F8 kit-

looking at these pics i think i do need to give it a final light weathering and a radio aerial!

actually i have a semi completed mustang from the duxford set that will make a nice dogfight double, although on the boxart there is what looks like a russian aircraft sneaking up on the 190.
if only there were a yak 9D kit out there..............
