I can now more certain about my attendance having booked leave/train and hotel.

I will be arriving in Telford at approximately 13:08hrs, by the time that I have checked into the hotel and got myself sorted out I should be able to assist with set up from about 14:30 onward.

Are there any plans as yet for meeting up on set up day?

Cheers

Stu

Great news Stu

Nothing planned as yet, Adrian Rich and I are all in the same hotel, I have some phone numbers but don't know how the land lies (what's nearby)
I'm open to suggestions

Have never been to Telford before so will take guidance from those that have been before. Looking forward to meeting up with everyone again, will be sorting out some kits to bring along, will post in the relevant area regarding these.

Cheers

This is a 1/12 scale representation of the display - working on the principle of keeping it simple and letting the models be the focus of the display.

I'm seeing about having the posters printed and we have the display board booked. The rear decade box-art displays will be adaptations of the ones we've used on previous displays. I have several more display stands in case any of the ones in use are missing or broken. (I also have some nifty perspex "Do Not Touch" signs   ).

Hopefully I should arrive Thursday with the basics for the setup ready for Friday (table cloths, posters etc). In the week before I will make up a reference table of all the models finished for the display by their respective  decades. That way we can see what we have for each day and have a rough idea of space allocations.

On Friday and Saturday morning various people will arrive at different times, but hopefully once the table is set up the first arrivals will be able to make a rough plan based on the table and put post-it place markers on the display. That way all the models should have a place allocated, so those arriving later on Friday or on Saturday morning still have allocations for their models.

Nearer the time I'll collect mobile numbers etc, so we can arrange to meet up or swap the entrance passes as necessary - note you will need to have a valid IPMS membership card as well as an exhibitors pass to get in for set up.

Hopefully we can arrange get togethers for dinner and drinks on Friday and Saturday for those interested. Hopefully we can bring some cakes/biscuits/booze for when the show is on to ensure a convivial atmosphere behind the display   .

See the seperate post, but it looks like we might be able to have AMSIG Polo shirts ready in time for SMW for those who want to purchase them.

Tom, if you are happy to bring along some of the Airfix books that would be great. I don't know if anyone has one of those cookery book holders? That might be a good way to display them.

Any other suggestions gratefully received!
Best
Rich

Well, I was browsing the web looking for pictures of proper models to go behind the table when the wife came in, needless to say she didn't believe my explanation. So these were the best I could come up with while holding my uncooked steak dinner to one eye........

All four of the original A4 display stands and the 'decade' landscape laminated cards are alive and well, as are the ATF GB laminated cards. I will bring them all to Telford. Please pick them up from the IPMS Membership table. I will also have Tom Weir's Vulcan and Adrian's kits that he loaned at Farnborough.

I wont be getting there untill Saturday morning, im not sure what time that will be. We are hoping for about 9:30. I will bring the models round as soon as i can but i have others to place on display with other groups. As for drinks after, im afraid we wont be joining others as neither of us drink and we are staying with my family outside of Telford so have to drive there.

Smashing stuff, I'm looking forward to it!

I shall/can be there early Saturday morning - I'll be coming up late Friday evening but will bring my kits to display on the morning. What are the arrangements with exhibitors passes and what time should I be there?

Regarding the display, will we display all models on one flat surface? Could we improvise a little and source some small shelves or platforms from somewhere to break up the red table cloth?

As you're going Owen, would you able to make a small detour and pick up my contributions from me?

It would be safer than posting them to one of the other guys. PM me either way.

Great, the stands have held up much better than I was expecting, thanks for looking after them so well and bringing them to Telford.

The show opens to IPMS members at 9am on Saturday, public at 10am. Set up with an exhibitors pass from 7.30am. We can probably sort out something Friday night if a pass is necessary, if you have a lot of stuff.

As the first SMW for the SIG, I think simpler is better, once we know how things work and what the set up is like we can get together and have a discussion about what we can put together and achieve for future shows   .

Remember to order polo shorts by Wednesday if any SIG members want one (or more) for the show.

Picked up the posters this morning. I'll e-mail file copies to a couple of people just in case too.

It's 4am and I've just finished packing and I'm off to get 2 hours sleep before going to the airport to catch the flight to Heathrow. I hope to see everyone at the show, hopefully I haven't forgotten anything too important.
All the best
