I have just completed a major update to Richard Humm's kit list, available for download from http://www.sworld.com.au/steven/models/Airfix%20Kit%20List.txt Any corrections are welcome, if you can find any in the 2,646 lines of the document! :-)

I've updated the list to 2009, including many old and new gift sets that were missing in the 2005 list. The list also now includes the Bilek and Classic Toy Soldier reissues. I've also done some updates to the 1/24 cars and other minor corrections here and there.

A couple of new additions are the motorised 1/24 Mercedes 280SL and the ready made 1/32 Sherman (not released by Airfix but issued by Classic Toy Soldiers).

I also started some research on the Series 0 1/144 aircraft kits and 1/300 airline kits, trying to find their origin. The 1/144 kits can be placed into two groups the F-4E, F-16XL and F-20 could be from LS (also issued by Lee, Arii and Hobbycraft) and the F-4E, F-104, MiG-21, MiG-23 and Viggen could be Crown (also issued by Minicraft). The LS and Crown kits are Japanese. There is one overlap, the F-4E which can be easily distinguished. The LS kit has a single missile on each wing, while the Crown kit has two missiles on each wing. Unfortunately, the Airfix box art is done at an angle which does not show how many missiles are being carried!

Another alternative, are that all the 1/144 kits are from Minihobby which originates in China. I suspect that Minihobby cloned the LS and Crown kits and then sold them to Airfix, as the Airfix kits are also made in China.

For the 1/300 airliner kits, I could only find three sources Doyusha (Japan), Hobbycraft (Canada) and Zhendufu/Kitech (China). It seems that Doyusha are the originator of the kits with Hobbycraft reissues and Zhendufu/Kitech clones.

Yes definitely, Steven.
A few suggestions (parallel to those over at the ACF):
Re the Norton - I think we're as close to a confirmation as we are likely to get who originated the mould - all evidence points to an Airfix-financed, Heller-tooled mould.

Re the Rally cars, perhaps you should add that the 0646x numbers are independent (earlier) German boxings of USAirfix-sourced kits.

The date for 2056 is wrong - it was released long before '78, being available in "normal" T4 boxes. Probably 1974.

Besides, I'd find it helpfull if the Snap kits for example received a separate entry, and if the sequence was by the "range" digit, e.g. 0 for 72nd and 24th a/c, 1 for 144th, 2 for ships, 3 for tanks etc.

Thanks tempestfan. I've done the first correction, but not the latter. Need to clarify the source of the 0646x kits, Richard says the date for 02056 is correct, and I might do the last one if I have a bit of spare time.

re: Airfix 1/144 McDD F-4E Phantom II #00100

Good day Steve

I have had a dig around and don't seem to be able find the actual model, I built back in 2003

I have, however found the instructions, which show two sparrows, which suggest this will be the LS Boxing

AX00100.pdf

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much Andy! That's a big help.

I've found this excellent Japanese web site that lists all the LS and Crown 1/144 scale aircraft.

I've done two major updates to the kit list. I've updated a whole bunch of information on the 1/24 Japanese car reissues as well as the gift box sets from the early 2000's. The changes are listed at the bottom of the list.
