Having painted the bomb doors hopefully you will be able to see the FIVE of them plus a little of the detail of the bracing in their construction.
I shall dry brush them when fully dry in a bid to highlight them as when the aircraft is complete with wings in place it may well be differcult to get a clear enough photo once they are in the 'shadow' of the fuselage on the dispersal point.

Never realised i would go this far with such a basic and rather old Airfix Wellington.
Out of interest, are there options available in other manufacturer's kit with the bomb bay open ??

Improvements to the two turrets prior to painting ...

I always take off the bottom of the turrets so i can crack on with the fuselage. When the turrets are complete i can then glue them in place ...

Masking of the fuselage. For some reason i believe that the black on the Wellington was more matt than other aircraft, me thinking that its something to do with fabric covering and to that end i gave the paint a really good stir and hopefully this will prove to be OK.

I've never seen the exhaust stains on a Wimpey but if like the Lancaster, 'fumes' came from the exhaust, then i reason that it too must remove the paint and so this is my interpretation of that ...

Bombs now secured in place ...

Just basically need to gloss, decal and matt the aircraft and then its ready for its final photos, outdoor hopefully.

Everything is now assembled but i am waiting on some tail decals to complete before taking some pics. A few items to point out ...
The cockpit glazing was the only issue when finally assembling the aircraft, it left gaps at the front windscreen but with glueing in place i let it dry before applying some 'extra' clearfix and final paint to blend in. Another thing with the canopy is that i have seen several that have been in-correctly painted! There was only ONE window, that of the pilots, often shown with two but the rearmost is where the pilots window slides open and hopefully this will be seen on my model.
Really pleased with the oper bomb bay and doors as well as the bombs in position.
Turrrets look a wee bit better now with a bit of structure inside them.
I am also waiting for the tail-wheel to glue securely as it looks a tad feeble before putting her down on the ground so to speak.

Seems that the tail markings will be a while so heres the finnished results of the Airfix Wellington 04001 with bomb-bay doors opened ... Hope you like the end results
Overall camouflage

Hopefully you can see the single window by the pilots position. Also note the nose light; once you notice it, its surprising how you begin to see it in actual photos as its quite prominant

Home -made decals from 'Transfer man' Chris;

Rear view showing that added detail in the rear turret ... with all the guns i cut off the 'muzzles' as they were so overscaled and i do think its gives a better appearance of the Brownings themselves

Tried to get a shot of the open doors of the bay and there construction but only just see the front section ...

This is probably the best Wellington i have built and i really did enjoy it, so much so that i shall try a Desert Wimpey with its differing camouflage scheme.

Thought that as i made the major(?) modification of putting in the bomb-bay with open doors (x5) then i ought to at least show the underside ...

There was a two-tier load capacity on the Wimpey, it could carry 18 such bombs but mine only shows 9
