I found a picture of Scots Greys and Highlanders fighting the French 45th Line supported by some Cuirassiers (6th or 9th, not sure - more research required). I have four Scots Greys, four Cuirassiers, three Highlanders and two French Line Infantrymen. Some of these are untouched and will appear here, others are second hand, so I'll deal with them in the restoration section
I'm currently hoping to make a small diorama and have been swapping the horses around trying to avoid duplication  Nailbiting

Travers' brigade of cuirassiers is the one usually said to have supported that attack.

If it were a whole division, presumably the one Travers was part of, then it would have been the 13th Cavalry Division. This comprised the 1st, 4th, 7th and 12th cuirassiers.

The 6th and 9th were part of Delort's 14th division along with the 5th and 10th cuirassiers.

Regimental facing colours:

1st - red
4th - light orange
5th - light orange
6th - light orange
7th - yellow
9th - yellow
10th - pink
12th - pink

What a well-dressed lot.

All three Highlanders and four (I found two more) French Line are new plastic

I will be tackling these

I've done a bit of horse-trading
Here are the French Cuirassier's mounts, primed in Hu: 98 Matt Chocolate

And these are the Scots Greys' horses primed with Hu: 34 Matt White

I salute you, I considered the oils path up until in the reading  I got to the part about letting the paint dry for six days.

Swings and roundabouts  Juggling
It also allows subsequent touch ups to be seamlessly merged
It'll be my first attempt on this sort of subject  Nailbiting

The butchery has begun

For my first attemt(s), something not too adventurous

But it just adds a bit of variation

Then its out with the oils  Nailbiting
The Cuirassiers will be of the 1em Squadron

Were all the mounts of the 2nd North British Dragoons greys

Ratch, you da man! I have always wanted to hack horses up pantomime style like that, but I never had the nerve!

Yes, all Scots Greys horses were grey, but among horsey folk, "grey" covers a range of shades from light grey to white. Greys also get whiter as they age, as do we :-)

IIRC there is quite a good wiki article about horse colours.

Top marks for the senior squadron. If you get bored with black horses, a few white socks, stars and blazes are OK, the French were shorter of horses than the British and had to let the odd non-standard nag slip through...!

My carabinier horse will have one white sock at least because I taped it to a stick by one leg to be sprayed...

It's like the Grand National on your workbench!

I'm looking forward to seeing how it all works out.
