This is the new release Vb kit:

And decals (including a decent stencil collection):

As you can probably see, this is the 1974 mould, with new markings. It's always been a fairly nice build.  (Note for obsessive Spitfire builders : Not included are any additional wings to do other variants, unlike some previous Vb releases and the Vc release.)

Completed builds of this, and the previous releases, can be found in this thread:

It's still the old tool kit? you could pick it up for £3.99 at hobbycraft with the old decals!
I was expecting this kit to be similar to the new mk1a kit! That's dissapointing. Great review, though! It was very helpful!

I have always rated this kit and the kit which it was developed, to show why, here is the LH side from the old mark 1a and the RH side from the new mark9c taped together.  Those with any knowledge of the engineering of this aircraft will know that the two marks shared the same basic fuselage structure, of course because of equipment changes between the different marks and increases in the AUW the material thickness of some parts would have been changed or reinforcement bracketing would have been installed but for our purposes the two fuselages are the same from the tail break to the firewall and to see that both kits match is testimony to the accuracy of this wonderful old kit.

AUW is All Up weight, the maximum airframe stresses increase as this gets heavier during the development of any aircraft and so the structure would need to be strengthened by increasing the thickness of the metal of the parts or adding local reinforcement to the existing parts.

Great decal choice.  I'll be getting this one because I want the markings.
