Looks very nice - and different from your average Spitfire in those markings

The old tool spitfires are simple but really quite accurate models that almost build themselves.  I have enjoyed making this so much that I may convert the new tool F.mk9 into the Soviet UTI conversion later in the build.

This will be my next Barbarossa build, a French-made Marlfleet boxing of the T-34 Tank in brown plastic kit number 01316.
I won't start this straight away as life is about to intrude for about a week but will continue the build using BMPs forum notes on the kit after things return to normal.

David.

Looking forward to it David. Thread title amended to account for the developing build agenda.

Nicely done on the Spitfire, that ESCI sheet for the ME109's brings back memories, is yours out register? A common trait of the sheets at the time.

Good luck with the T-34.....I'm guessing it'll get a few tweaks.

All the best
Sgt.S
PS - I have a very interesting book on the T-34 in .PDF format.

not really out of register (but some of my Esci sheets are) but printed in the wrong order on part of the sheet with the white printed over black or blue, consequently the markings on the Finnish and the Hungarian aircraft are quite poor and the rest of the markings are OK.

And Sgt. S, You would guess right, but nothing radical, I just want to find my feet with this kit before I build any more from the new boxing.

Back at the building board and the T-34 is next in line.  I have some info culled from google and other ATF posts so will not be going too deep with this one I just want to get the feel for the kit and work out its faults first hand.

Although I had planned to build a number of other kits due to new GBs coming up (under my leadership) I will call it a day after the T-34 as my second Barbarossa build.

Here we go with my T-34/76 build.
I have basing my first T-34 on internet references including other larger models   I have never built this kit before so this is also something of a test build.  I not doing anything adventurous, simply making a basic T-34/76.  because the very large turret hatch will be open on this model I am adding some very basic interior detail some of which can be seen in the picture below showing the model at close of play last night.

Here the hull top has been glued in place and the turret halves have been glued together.  The gun will not move on this model and will be partially scratch-built and fitted later.

The hull has been modified to look more like a wartime T-34/76 and is now ready for painting and finishing.

Looking good! Glad you decided to change the mudguards as well. It's not Airfix's finest kit but you're mods are really improving it

The tracks on this kit are giving me a problem and have been forced to find a set from the spares box, they have the wrong pattern of track but then the original set isn't that good.  I will need more info. before I build any more but from what I've found on the internet the number of variants and potential conversions greatly outstrips the Sherman or Churchill.

This is an interesting build David. It's nice to see some Russian armour on this group build!
