Thank you Corricon and staxis for your kind comments. Much appreciated, as always. I was happy with the way the pictures turned out, considering I used a pizza box and an old calendar! You may get fed up with seeing the same log and bush, though...

Next is a 1/76 Sdkfz 7/1 '2cm Flakvierling 38 Auf Selbstfahrlafette' converted from the Airfix Sdkfz 7. This is a retread, originally made as a teenager using cardboard from a cornflake box. I also remember getting in a lot of trouble for cutting a hole in some net curtains for the mesh… This was on my list to replace, but I decided to try to do it up a bit first. I still want to try again in the future with better materials, but this will do for now.

I left the armored cab and mesh sides (net curtains...) as they were but replaced the rear deck with a textured mesh, added a few details and softened the camouflage edges with an airbrush.

Inspired (or corrupted...) by B4en's excellent work, I scratch built some 20mm wooden ammo boxes and spare barrel boxes to go with a new white metal crew from SHQ. These can be seen better in the figure post close ups. Since the crew is really a seperate kit I am going to try and sneak in an extra picture...

More photos of the Sdkfz 7/1 in the Airfix Military Vehicle Picture Gallery  here.

More photos of the SHQ Crew in the Non-Airfix Figure Gallery  here.

While not a 'trackhead', it's always great to see something done so skilfully and creatively.

Fantastic collection of  AFVs.
I particularly like the Cromwell (my favourite tank), the Tigers and the StuG III.

Cheers,

Don

Your Sdkfz 7/1 looks really good.  And I love the story behind it net curtains, tut-tut!

At least the last one fired at wingy-things! Thanks for crossing to the dark (well at least muddy) side. :Tank:

Glad you liked them. The Tiger 1 is my favorite tank and I loved the late version Fujimi kit.

Like Gerry, I'm not a 'trackhead'. ... More of an airhead, actually!  :D   Having said that, your portfolio is excellent, Neil - and very inspirational!  Great Stuff! :notworthy:

Very nice builds, all of them. How do you do your Zimmerit in that scale?

I use a small engraving bit in a Dremel rotary tool to cut the grooves directly into the plastic. I have tried numerous techniques over the years, but found this works best for me in 1/76.
