The elevator cars need a coat of matt varnish to tone down the decals.

An old favourite... but seen in a different way. Reference material from "FAB Cross Sections" by Graham Bleathman

Here's where I'm at with the Airfix Sea Fury.  Since re-commencing I've painted the top of one of the wings, the antennae and attached the canopy.

Next is to paint the top of the fuselage.

Great work. 8-)

That looks like a fairly challenging kit, I've been toying with getting one of these for a while as I've developed a bit of a taste for 1/32 recently.....How do you rate it?  Any specific advice?  :?:

Thanks Sarge.
This particular kit is from the seventies (it has a price ticket of £2.40 on the box which should help date it), it’s the second one I have made. My son bought it for me on eBay for father’s day this year, as he broke my original one back in 1988 when he was about 18 months old  :) .
The plastic is extremely brittle and the bell hook on the dash board snapped off immediately I handled the piece, I also snapped the rear running board off after I had carefully glued and painted it.
Overall the fit isn’t too bad but it’s very tight in places. Quite a few ejector marks as well but some are hidden in construction, I used filler on the ejector marks on the wheels though. One of the firemen has a cone for a hand and I remember the same problem before so it must be the moulding.
The instructions, being old, have descriptions and show how to have working ladders. I feel that it’s far too flimsy to do this though and if painted the ladders don’t slide over each other any way so mine are rigged with ropes but will be static.
Finally the decals being old were very yellow so they have languished in the window during construction and they have bleached a bit. I haven’t applied any so I can’t say if they are as brittle as the plastic yet.

Cheers
Neil

I made one about 20 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the build, though it was challenging for somebody of my limited skills. It still sits on a bookcase in my office at work and I was 'made up' a while ago when the caretaker asked me if it was a diecast model!

How do the figures scale out compared to the 1/32 Multipose range.....Could these be used to make repairs/customise poses?  :?:

The addition of ropes and a couple of chains to the extendable ladder.

It’s nice to see this baby constructed after so long in a dusty cardboard box. :)
