The new Airfix Zero
Image
Image

It comes packaged in a slim line box with one flying hour.
Markings are included for a Zeke of 201st Kokuta, Tobera Airfield, Keravat, East New Britain, PNP 1944.

Casual buyers may be caught unawares as magazine advertising use the Tora Tora Tora tag line suggesting Pearl Harbour. I assume we have to wait for the dogfight double to get the Pearl Harbour schemes.

Inside there are 3 sprues, flash free with fine recessed panel lines and a bagged canopy. Instructions and the decal sheet printed by cartograf complete the kit.

There is an option to have folding wind tips although a hack saw has to be taken to the wings to achieve this.

Some of the fine detail on the kit.

A nice kit. Recommended.

Two sets of doors for wheels down and wheels up options  :thumb: . What is the wheel hub detail like, I can only see one side from the sprue shots  :?:

It's OK, just wondering what the detail was like and how easy it would be to paint, if it's the same then there's a nice rim on the hub to run the tire colour around  :D  I need all the help I can get on wheels  :?

Very nice! Didn't know it was a new mold.  The world can use a decently priced A6M2 Zero as the prices of the re-re-release Hasegawa climb into the stratosphere.

Looks to be another winner :thumb: I have received the latest issue of the club magazine today and there is a build review of this and the P40 in it along with pack shots of the P40 RAF version gift set, Zero gift set and Pearl harbour Dog fight double, looks like more expense :D

Cheers

Stu

Looks like another excellent new kit from Airfix.  :D

Is that a throttle quadrant I see on the cockpit tub?  :Pilot:

Hello there, I bought this kit last week and it never even made it to the stash, I started it the same day. That is something I have NEVER done before!

I think it is a fabulous kit and if Airfix continue like this, their future is golden! I look forward to all their releases now, and will even go jetty with the Gnat.

Keep up the good work

Ray

That kit looks pretty damn fine. I can see myself buying a few for various dioramas...
