Hello Passenger and welcome to the Departures Lounge. Please cast your vote for the run date of the 2012 Airfix Civil Aircraft Group Build.

Options to choose are:

16th January - 15th March, to run from the end of the Seaplane GB.

1st February - 31st March, to run from the end of the What-if and (almost the end of) the Buildings GBs.

1st March - 30th April, to run from the end of the Cromwell Tank and Angel Interceptor GBs.

This poll will run until 15th December.

Happy voting, and thank you for flying Airfix Civil Airlines.

Alex.

I haven't voted as I really don't mind which date, but wanted to confirm my ticket :)

I'm in, most likely with a Caravelle if I can find the blooming thing.

@ Mop_the_Panda, your ticket is confirmed, please listen out for announcements or watch the screens, boarding information will be published as soon as it becomes available.

@ djmunkster, welcome to your first flight, please pay attention to the safety briefings but don't hesitate to press your stewardess button if you need any assistance. Would be great to see the Trident in Cyprus, looks like a challenge - lots of holes in the back. I fancied doing this to a Catalina (as per the Saudi beach one), I think if you carefully drilled out inside the holes first, then filed them into the missing panel shapes it wouldn't be too tricky. Up to you though :)

@ Dan, is that 1/200 or 1/144? I think I've seen the Heller 1/200 one. Good luck with either, my fingers are too fat for those :)

Wishing you all a happy flight,
Alex.

Well I shook the rune stones and consulted the stars and..... stuck a pin in ....and voted.
Whilst you big boys go for the big aeroplanes just look out for my wee one sneaking up runway 25N.

Having just discovered the joys of Halfords' Appliance White, I'm going to join in with this one.

I picked up a 1/300 747-400 at Telford.  It's only got about six parts, so there's a chance I might just be able to finish it the alloted time... :fear:

Not too bothered about dates, so I'll let the rest of you fight over that one.

Civvie aeroplanes in military markings are permitted, as are military aeroplanes in civvie markings

Welcome to Airfix Civil Airlines, Alex, Fred and Adrian, good to have you travelling with us.

Alex, have you considered the Avro Anson, Douglas AC-47 Gunship (DC-3) or even the DHC Beaver as possible military/civilian conversions? Am sure there's others but that might get you started :) You'd need to check but don't the RAF bring home wayward tourists sometimes? Am wondering if they have to make a contribution to the Treasury for the service - would this class them as commercial airliners? :)

Fred, all shapes and sizes are welcome, look forward to it.

Adrian, what scheme for your 747?

I've got a couple to ponder over in my stash, the Bristol Superfreighter and the afore mentioned Douglas AC-47 and Avro Anson. I quite fancy a DC-3 in SwissAir colours, but not decided yet.

Alex.

So does that mean I could do, for example, a civil conversion of a PBY or Supermarine Walrus :?:

@MaxedModels, indeed you could, just choose a civvie scheme, e.g. Pan Am or similar.

I plan to do the Cherokee Arrow in Finnish Air Force markings. It just looks like an ordinary civvie Arrow except for the cockades.

No traditional over the Xmas period option :!: I'll have to wait for my civil fix this year then  , looking to do a DH Heron in Morton Air Services colours, as it is linked with a new job.

So sorry, Arpie, I didn't realise , I haven't been here that long! I thought everyone would be busy with Christmas and the other group builds going on so tried to link it in to the end of those. I'll do a mini pre-build with you if tradition is important (modelling with your paper hat on) :). I've got a Heron too, how about a Croydon Airport Appreciation Build?

Nice one, fred, I do like a Piper. First plane I flew - don't get the wrong idea though, I'm not a pilot, my uncle had one!

And interesting one, richellis, I don't recall seeing an Air Malawi scheme before so will have to have a look later. Did you get aftermarket decals for that?

cheers,
Alex.

Not to worry adesalis as you say there are a few GBs set to be running (including one I'm ment to be leading  ).  Yup the Heron is for Croydon Airport I walk under it every day :)

Have voted, but not really worried either way.

My contribution will be of a local subject a BOAC Flying Boat, either a Hythe or Sandringham.  They used to run (in the dim and distant past) from the backwaters of my local harbour.

looking forward to the challenge  :D
