Moved from Airfix and Airfix Chat because this is about... errr... Revell. Title also changed to give everyone a clue what it's about.

Has anybody seen this and the Japanese set yet? I'd like to know which plastic colour Revell chose. Thanks in advance, Pat

Pat,

I've seen the Japanese Infantry re released by Revell. I decided in the end not to buy a box because of the plastic quality. I have an original Matchbox set, and indeed they are lovely figures. I had been expectantly waiting for this re release, only to be so disappointed. I thought the plastic far too thin, and very bendy - unlike the Matchbox original figures. I would guess one would possibly have to put quite a few coats of PVA glue on them to stiffen them up before painting.

The colour of the Japanese was an orangey-brown colour if I remember rightly. Haven't seen the Anzacs.

Many thanks Rooster. That sounds awful. It certainly keeps me from ordering any of the re-issues before having a closer look at the figures.

I have the original Matchbox Japanese infantry and they are indeed the orangey brown.
Sad that Revell have chosen to release them in such a flexible material though. I despair.

I can confirm that the ANZAC Infantry are also in this awful orange/brown 'rubbery' plastic. There is also a soft bloom of flash around a lot of the figures that will be difficult to remove due to the nature of the material used and the detail looks quite soft which is a great shame as, when issued by Matchbox, this was surely one of the best figure sets ever produced.

Cheers

Stu
