I'm currently sat here waiting for the weather to sort itself out, so I can go outside and spray paint the railings (drizzle here in North Devon). However, I've managed to do a couple of things.

The Oakham sign has been printed and attached to the hording. The track has been glued to a piece of ballasted underlay.

Once again, everything has been loosely assembled for a progress piccy.

Enjoy.

Yup. I've got a box of Airfix Platform Figures. I was lucky enough to get a set that was already painted from Ebay a couple of weeks ago.

I'm sure I mentioned this on page 1.

It's been a loooooong day, but I'm now very close to finishing.

The weather did clear up and I did manage to spray the fencing. That fencing is now attached to the platform bases. The printed bits of paper supplied with the kiosks are now applied to the kiosk I'm using. Oh, if anyone is interested, Bostik removes enamel paint! I had to do some touching up where the rather stringy Bostik removed it, but all is now well.

I'm now at the final assembly stage. With a bit of luck, I'll be finished tomorrow.

Sounds good! :blob:  You'd better do a good job of it after depriving all those collectors of 'rare', 'vintage' Airfix kits!  :D

I've managed to deprive the collectors of one type 1 and two type 2 baggies in this build. In previous GB's, I've notched up one type 2 and a type 3 baggie. I keep the headers as trophies!

I did try Pritt. It was rubbish.

I'm sure I mentioned this on page 2.

Not wishing to get into fisticuffs and not wishing to tout same old ... But pva works ok on paper and card - being a wet glue it can wrinkle and stretch a little initially but then with a little time - a few minutes - dries out flat and taut..

Don't worry about it. Under normal circumstances, I'd use Copydex. However, I couldn't buy a small enough bottle of it. Add to that I have to stick the platform and track to the baseboard, Bostick was the best economic choice.

It's endgame time!

Up with the Larks this morning to do the final assembly. So it was Bostik and superglue ahoy. I pulled out the pre-painted (When I say 'pre-painted', they didn't come from the manufacturers painted. Somebody had painted the Airfix Platform Figures and then sold them on Ebay) and removed a sprues worth. Where the figures were attached to the sprues was given a blob of matching paint. The figures were then placed around the platform. Job done!

Pictures are now in the Gallery.

Add Endum.
The figures, kiosk and seats aren't actually glued to the platform. It's my intention to use the basic platform and track diorama as a back drop for future Railway GB's. At this time, I've got a Booking Hall which I've already started to map out an interior, so don't be surprised if you see the Booking Hall instead of the kiosk next year.

What of the 'side show' I've mentioned during this build? Work is still ongoing. Obviously, one kiosk is finished. The steps are finished as well. This leaves the other kiosk. There's still work to do and I'll probibly revisit this GB once it's done.

 Oh dear, I'm not doing very well, am I? I remember building the kiosk as a youngster and using UHU (the brown stuff) to stick the posters on, equally sticky and horrible. You've done a good job, it looks great.

Cheers for that. I've still got one kiosk to finish, but I'm taking a break to work on other projects.
