This will be a specific kit group build, the idea here is to choose your favourite from the above list. The kit with the most votes will be the group build subject with those left being put back into the pot for a later build.

Should the conversion section prove to be the most popular then any Airfix kit may be used as a basis for the conversion and the completed model should feature anti aircraft weapon(s) or kit used to assist A/A gunners hit their target .

Cheers

I decided to go for the Bofors gun and tractor in the end. I had considered an AA conversion but time is a limited factor seeing as I have a huge number of builds on the way. I also have the Bloodhound but I am saving that for another day.

I've gone for the Bloodhound as that's the only option I've got

Mmmm... quandary, I'd like to do the Crusader AA tank with Bofors, specially now that I've found one without the pesky turret armour. But I only have one Crusader which could fit in with the ordinary tank build. Have to see how things pan out.

A bloodhound would do me just fine. I intend to make one or two as part of a small Airfield on my Model Railway layout

I went for the Conversion option. I've got the parts to build an AA battery based on the Airfix Gun emplacement set and the Airfix 88mm gun and tractor set.

That sounds interesting Spudgun, are you planning to mount the 88 within the gun emplacement to replace the gun supplied?

The conversion option is in the lead at the moment, I wonder who else has opted for that and what their plans are.

I am saving my vote until the last in case a tie breaker is needed although I will have to admit that I am up for any of them so it will be a tough decision if it comes to it.

Cheers

Well there seems to be plenty of interest in an Anti Aircraft build. Once again I had held back my vote in case a tie break was required but would have gone for the Bofors gun so in theory all 3 subjects have had enough interest shown to qualify for a group build.

The first one past the post nether the less was the conversion option so this will be put in line for a build once the centurion is underway.

By the way I will be seeking a volunteer to lead this build, if no one takes one pace forward I shall lead it myself Haven't a clue what I would build.

Cheers

How about one of the highly dodgy T-34/88mm conversions here?

Nice link David, I am all for what-if's as part of this build (I think I mentioned it somewhere in the future groups builds thread ).

I rather like the look of that T34 Drilling, may consider having a go at that or perhaps the one with the 88 fitted, I have plenty of spare 88's lying about .

Thanks for the ideas

Cheers

At this time, yes. Now, I wonder if a Bofors or a Bloodhound will fit?

You could certainly mount a Bofors in there, make a nice home defence scene .

The blast from the rocket motor would make launching a Bloodhound out of the Airfix emplacement a little too exciting.

The emplacement was bought to have a Bofors mounted in it. It was my intention to build a number of RAF related dioramas:

Refulling and rearming a Hampden
Putting out a crashed and burning Defiant.
NAAFI wagon at the Control Tower.
Cleaning up after a German air raid
Bofors airfield defence unit.

However, the forthcoming Airfix diorama sets have cooled my enthusiasm even though a number of the kits needed have already been built or are in the stash.

On the subject of Bloodhounds. Yeah, the backwash from a launching missile would've made life interesting for the ground crew, but as dioramas go, it would look pretty neat.

So it'll be a general build, not a Conversion, Bloodhound or Bofors Build then

It will be a conversion based on an Airfix kit if everyone who voted are still up for it, check the poll results at the top I have also put a reminder in the future group builds section.

Cheers
