After all my frustration with the PE    I've just had a very satisfying experience with the crane booms    If only the rest turns out as well  Nailbiting

There be a lesson there Ratch, try doing the bigger bits first then the more fidly bits, but dont worry I made the same mistakes the first time I tried using PE

Did a bit more work on her yesterday morning
Somehow I'd managed to misplace (although I can't recall cutting it from the sprue) part #245, the rear mast    As I intended to chop it up and fit the etch (to match the forward/main mast), it was not a major disaster    I stretched some sprue and constructed a new mast and yard, fitting the etched aerial sections    Most of the aft superstucture was also fitted
Pictures to follow

Here's how she looked yesterday

Today I've added the last of the injection moulded plastic

The paintwork has been re-touched. All that needs to be done now is the addition of handrails  Nailbiting  These will then need painting and I may add flags

Quick tip Ratch, I found it easier to paint the handrails on the fret then cut and stick using micro crystal clear, its a lot less fidly

I finished her off last night    Not as good a job as I'd hoped for    but Geoff's advice re-etch helped and encouraged me not to bin the thing
Anyway, here she is

And all done in less than a month - talk about quick!

Hu: 109 WWI Blue

I thought it might've supposed to be 27, but I'd seen some pix where it looked very blue

I like these floaty things in nice colours, I always just thought of them as dead grey and drab blobs ........  I might even have a go at one one day.

Looks good to me.....Fair play for persevering with the etch!  It looks great once it's done, but it can drive you gibbering mental while you are working with it!

All the best
