Although I have been keeping a relatively low profile lately, I have still been available for any admin problems. However, I will not be available for the next few days as I will be in Scotland from PM tomorrow 14th Feb and will be returning home on PM Monday 18th February.
If you have any problems of a routine nature then contact the other Admins or Moderators who should be able to help you. Should you not know who they are, click on the "Moderators" link at the top of the page. If your problem is of an urgent nature then contact one of the Admins who will be able to contact me by mobile if absolutely necessary.
See you when I get back!

Beware of the Haggis, I am told that they bite. Rather painful if they get up your kilt.

Thank you all. I certainly intend to enjoy myself and take plenty of photos. I have my schedule all worked out -
Thursday evening - Fly up to Edinburgh
Friday - Glasgow including a visit to the Transport Museum at Kelvin Hall and possibly a picture gallery
Saturday - Rosslyn Chapel
Sunday - Stirling Castle
Monday - A quick (and cheap ) look round Wonderland Models in Edinburgh and fly back home in the afternoon.
BTW, I had my first haggis in Scotland two months ago and am looking forward to having some more - assuming I can catch them!

Rosslyn Chapel eh Dave?
Please could you post any piccies (if you are allowed to take any) of the chapel's interior for us to wonder over.
I've not yet been up to Rosslyn, but I do have some (pre-digital) photos of the interior of Rennes Le Chateau's church (before the vandalism) somewhere.
Hope you have a great time, all the best |

I would love to take photos of the interior, Andy, but I read on their web site that from the 2nd January 2008 they were banning cameras from inside the chapel - for HEALTH & SAFETY reasons!
My bet is that they want to force people to buy their official pictures. Anyway, I will try and sneak a couple of pictures if I can and get some video footage as well. The worst they can do is kick me out so I will take them when it's time to leave!

Have a great time. If you get a chance, pop into Harburn Hobbies on Elm Row and Marionville Models at Maybury too. _________________ Stephen McKeeman

I'm not surprised they're banning cameras from Rosslyn. I visited May07 and it was so crowded inside there was hardly room to move let alone take pictures. It *is* very impressive.
Glasgow Transport Museum's well worth a visit too.
Stirling Castle's the one place on your list I've not been to - only been driven past it. _________________ The moral is "do your research carefully". |

Watch out! I'm about! Just filling in time at the airport before the flight which is not for an hour yet.
I managed to do the visits as planned and met up with Iain (ejsnotgrass) for the walk around the museum in Glasgow. Stirling Castle was really stunning, especially the views and Rosslyn Chapel was very good too although they have put a metal roof over it for protection and it looked more like a barn. However, there was a walkway which meant you could get right up close to the structure.
Will post lots of pictures in the next few days - especially of lots of floaty models!

Just noticed Dan's question. Apologies for missing it earlier and the answer is a Bombardier Q400!
