Hi all
Thought I'd do two Harriers, the P1127 and T.10. Not quite as brave as Ratch and his production line.
P1127
T.10
In the box pictures to follow. I think I'll do them straight from the box. I might even finish them within the deadline this time. _________________ Modelling - Buy twenty, research ten, build one (eventually).

Hi everyone
I thought I'd get a prompt start on this GB after taking so long on my last. I've opted to start the P1127 first.
Started on Saturday with a little gentle progress, painted exhaust nozzles and fan with gunmetal H53 and fixed in the blanking plates and seat.
Todays progress has been a little better with much of the time spent sanding joins. Fuselage is not a bad fit but I managed to get a bit of a step in alignment.
The wings themselves need a little thinning on the leading edges to match the root contours and the wing to root top join is a little ropey too. Lots of sanding but so far have avoided the need for using filler.
The intakes blanking plates are about 2mm too shallow and should not sit back from the fuselage sides. I've left them as they are but should really have scratch built new ones and fitted them flush. The tail ballast weight is also way too large a diameter and does not fit well at all, necesitating lots more sanding to mate the ballast to the fuselage.
Finished progress so far

Yes indeed, some small progress, undercarriage is fixed on the P.1127 and the internals are sorted on the T.10, ready for joining the halves together now. Pictures and a better report to follow. _________________ Modelling - Buy twenty, research ten, build one (eventually).

Hi everyone
Progress has been a little slow, not much time for modelling this last week.
P1127 wheels have now been attached, the bulk of the sanding has been completed and a little paint applied over the joins on the wing roots to aid a smoother join after a little more sanding.
I had affixed the long pitot and the cylindrical tail fitting originally, but the fit on the nose probe was really poor and need a complete re-contouring (I think that's a real word) of the front fuselage, so I sawed them off and affixed the blunt nose and rounded tail piece. The tail piece needs a lot of sanding to get the fit right, the diameter of both tail options are oversized.
Canopy is oversized too, I'm in the midst of reshaping that today, pictures to follow. Undercarriage is painted in H11 now and just waiting for it to dry before painting the whole thing, hopefully tomorrow.
T.10 progress has been made too. The exhausts are not a very tight fit, I don't know why Airfix chose to mold them this way, if you want to get them right they need lots of work. I just bodged them together and painted them. Using an old CD as a painting aid is good to work with. Very easy to hold and spin around to get to all the sides of the little pieces. Here are the exhausts stuck down with blu-tack.
The cockpit has been fixed into the fuselage here, a pretty good fit but a bit hard to keep in the right place unless you place the other fuselage half over it.
As you can see I haven't got the front pilot's instument panel in the right place, something for me to fill later. I recommend fitting it after the cockpit is glued into the fuselage.
No pictures of today's progress, but all is now fixed inside the fuselage, halves glued together and wings attached. Pictures to follow in the week.

P1127 completed today. The canopy is not a good fit, even after some trimming the darn thing is still too wide for my liking, but it's on now. Brush painted with H11 and a few coats of Klear. Not so hot close up but it's not bad from a couple of feet away.
I'm afraid not much further along with the T.10 this week, hopefully I will get caught up with it tomorrow, wife permitting. _________________ Modelling - Buy twenty, research ten, build one (eventually).

I've been doing the odd bit on the T.10 this last week or so but I'm afraid it's gone firmly back on the shelf. Having faffed about with it too long now the last straw came on Sunday morning. Busily trying to affix the airbrake, main under carriage and nose wheel, the prepainted fixing points have come unglued and disappeared into the fuselage. The air was blue. So Mr T.10 has gone back in his box to be made 'wheels up' at some later stage closer to retirement. He should therefore see the light of day sometime around 2031. That'll learn him. ( Bad grammer? why yes! but whose counting)
So this group build will only have the P.1127 from myself, for now anyway. But it's like yoda once said, "there is another."
I feel the urge now to indulge in a little spitfire fest, several in the stash that need some glue applying urgently. _________________ Modelling - Buy twenty, research ten, build one (eventually).
