Searching for more news about Airfix today I found the following article
http://subs.nzherald.co.nz/category/sto ... d=10408133
Its seems Peter Jackson is a bit of an Airfix fan
Quote:
But an Airfix one will soon be rare - the British model company is financially not long for this world. With it goes the boy's-own hobby heritage of many a model-making guy of Jackson's generation ...
"Hey, fantastic," he says with such enthusiasm you fear he might postpone the promised 40-minute interview and get out the glue and camouflage paint instead.
"It was our childhood, wasn't it, Airfix kits?" he sighs examining the box and explaining that this is actually the "Lanc" model after the ones which launched the bouncing bombs. "So there's a sequel after the dams break."
He was an Airfix kid. Still is, actually, saying he occasionally bids for old kitsets on eBay.
So next time you get outbid for that rare kit on eBay - it might have been Peter Jackson :P
With the new Dambusters movie coming out - maybe a movie tie in with Airfix ;) Any one got any contacts with the new management to suggest this?

He could have bought the whole company! If I'd had his bank balance, I know that I would have considered it...

He probably has bought it but like all good modellers found a big cupboard somewhere to hide it away from SWMBO!

Listened to the BBC Radio 2 Arts Show hosted by Jonathan Ross.
During a conversation with guest Fay Ripley Jonathan mentioned he enjoys building model kits.
Not only just building but in a serious way too as later he mentioned he had a large tool kit and airbrush.

I know Jonathan Ross is not everyone's flavour, but cut him some slack, he's one of us!

It was during a conversation this morning on Magic radio, Ronan Keating admitted to going into a Hobbykit shop and looking around ordering a Hurricane fighter, said he loved the place, so he too will be joining us in the ranks of 'modeller'.

Ronan Keating for those that dont know, was in a Irish boy band 'Boyzone' that sold around 30.000.000 albums and he, around 16.000.000 albums as a single artist.
