Many of you will be aware of the problems caused by Photobucket changing pictures to ransom notes. This situation has a detrimental affect on the Galleries in particular. In the past, posts containing broken links to photos were deleted - there's no point having non-pictures in a gallery. Similarly, posts commenting on the (now lost) images were also removed - no point having comments on something that can't be seen. However, we realise that folks may wish to replace their broken links and that this may take some time to do.
We will have a moratorium on the removal of broken links until next year (2018).
If the edit button is missing, contact an Admin to restore it
We are already looking at a solution to restore the images in the History of Airfix Kits.
Some of you may not wish to (or be able to) replace all you WIP or GB images and may find it preferable to start a new WIP thread. The choice is yours.

Thanks, Ratch. I fully intend to replace every "lost" image of mine that I can find. It'll take a little time, though.

Ratch, I absolutely refuse to be blackmailed by PB and I've deleted my account there. I fully realize what would happen when I did that, that is all my photos in the threads would disappear. I have hundreds posted here, there and everywhere, and I just don't have the time (or the inclination) to troll through all the threads on here (and the other forums I'm on) trying to find my missing photos. I'm sorry but I have too much other stuff to do so if you find anything of mine that is showing the ransom, please just delete it (whole threads if you have to --- )

Time for a new workbench thread. I've not the time to trawl through that. Will restore my portfolio and the more successful GB projects.

Thanks for the delay. I'm slowly restoring my links. It's going to take some time though.

I have dumped PB, rented my own storage space on Smugmug and will upload copies of all my images and replace the PB markers with the original pictures as soon as possible.

David.

Is there any sure fire way of finding what threads that we've Posted gallery pictures in? I can find Topics I've started and threads that I've replied too. But it seems that some Posts have gone 'missing' (I'm sure that I've Posted pictures of the Airfix beam engine and of the Scorpion tank, but can't find them).

I have definitely lost some posts along the way, most notably in the galleries.

I'll guess that those posts had broken image links long before the Photobucket debacle :!:

I am in the process of restoring my photo links but I am getting a few posts that I am not able to edit in my WIP, can they be opened or are they locked?

I had posted a workaround to restore links to PB pics here:
A_Guide_To_Photo_Hosting_Accounts_about37097.html&start=60

Perhaps you could make this a separate thread with an own title.

Paul, when all this started, early in July I posted the same trick here.
For some photos adding ~original didn't work though - I have no explanation why. I such cases I added :original at the end of the link and it worked.
All my PB-photos I have posted in this forum through the years were restored, using one of the above suffixes.
This was the reason to ask everybody here NOT to delete the photobucket-accounts. The old photos are still there and can be made visible or at least a link to them can be restored.

Cheers!

I'm afraid that some folks just don't look when they visit  They will start a new thread on a topic that has been running for weeks, thinking they've just discovered something that no-one else has any knowledge of - let alone a solution to :hithead: I am forever merging such duplicate topics, so starting another thread will be pointless :smt024:

Your Scorpion Tank thread was archived some time ago because of broken links -
Code:
This was the first kit I built when Airfix 'went on holiday'. For some reason, I bought anything with Airfix written on it and the Scorpion was one of them. This kit suffers from the normal 'pants' tracks that you get with Airfix Armour (Please Hornby, do something about this). After I broke one wheel off, I decided to be a little inventive and used rubber bands instead.

[img]http://www.back-up.fsnet.co.uk/scorpion-4.jpg[/img]

Same with your Beam Engine -
Code:
I was very pleased to see this kit re-released. Even though the motorising parts weren't included (or even mentioned in the instructions), with a little help with some gears from Ebay and some fret from a White Ensign etch set, here's a fully motorised Beam Engine!

[img]http://www.back-up.fsnet.co.uk/Beam_Engine-01.jpg[/img]
[img]http://www.back-up.fsnet.co.uk/Beam_Engine-02.jpg[/img]

[img]http://www.back-up.fsnet.co.uk/Beam_Engine-04.jpg[/img]
[img]http://www.back-up.fsnet.co.uk/Beam_Engine-05.jpg[/img]

If you can give new links to the images then the threads can be restored.

Dave

Some good news, albeit bear in mind PB may eventually try to block it, but by adding the extensions linked below to Firefox and Chrome browsers, then the PB ransom image is replaced with the real deal.

Firefox extension

Chrome extension

This is a painless exercise, it simply adds an extension to the browser and doesn't alter anything in your account or computer registry. Thanks to rubenandres77 on the RevellAtions forum for the heads up to this fix.

It works!
Same fix was notified to me on another forum. All my photos are back - for the time being.

Gone again now.
Countermeasures obviously applied.
