Something a little different for me. This is the one from the first part of the movie "Generations". It's based on the USS Excelsior and is probably my favourite Enterprise of the lot.

It was an enjoyable build and much bigger than I expected it to be. Apart from a poor fit on the display stand there isn't much wrong with it. I did simplify the paint scheme slightly but otherwise it's OOB.

Ayup PAYF...

Nice Enterprise.

I'd love to start one of my own, but it's the space thing ATMO. Maybe when the Re-Decoratings done Next Year...

Very nice. I do quite like the Excelsior-Class myself

Very nice NCC 1701B there, it does look quite a large kit and you've done it proud.
IIRC this Enterprise was the original Excelsior model but with fillers on the secondary hull to allow for the damage caused by the Nexus without damaging the original.

Nice build. I have one in my stash, I havent decided whether to build oob or go for some fancy aztec decals yet.
Thanks for the pictures  :)

I've just picked one of these up - one thing that bothers me is the thin stripes that should run around the bevelled edge of the saucer section. I see a lot of people leave them off - I can't see any way of applying them accurately without huge amounts of work.

The Excelsior studio model was indeed modified into the Enterprise B, and the additional section around the hull was added so that when the damage was shown in close up it was clear that a projecting section had been blown completely off, and consequently (spoiler alert) the audience knew Kirk had gone. The original lines of the Excelsior were so smooth without projections that this would have been hard to achieve. The damage was actually to a large studio minature of just the secondary hull for an extreme close up.

The studio miniature of the complete ship was not damaged, nor could it be returned to Excelsior configuration without wrecking it. When a model of the Excelsior was needed for one of the TV shows later on, a new (rather smaller) miniature had to be built.

I do like the Excelsiors - they are ugly in an appealing way in my view, as opposed to the Galaxy class which is just ugly.

Here is my attempt, complete with Aztec decals from Acreation Models. There is not much plastic that doesn’t have a decal on it. I decided on a matt finish to reduce the “toy” quality as the design of the ship was to make it look like a Japanese morph of the classic shape. This is a commission for my son who always liked the Enterprise B and it’s a late house warming present for him.

And finally with its baby sister from a “Micro Machines” set!

Very nice indeed. I considered the Aztec decals for my Galactica model, but they cost almost as much as the base kit! Seeing your Enterprise though, it would have been worth it... :notworthy:

Fantastic builds of the revamped Excelsior class starship. I'd love to get the Enterprise B and also 2 of the Excelsior ships seen in ST3 and ST6 so that I could have both the NX-2000 and NCC-2000 versions
