The titular ship from the 're-imagined' 2005 TV series. This is the Revell re-boxing of the Moebius original. The kit only has 69 parts and goes together without too much trauma, although a fair bit of filler was used fitting the recesses in the main hull. The painting however was another story! There is no physical model of the Galactica and trying to work out what colours to use from CGI images is almost impossible. In the end, I opted to do away with the instructions and went with a darker scheme without the metallic paint mix suggested.

Weathering was limited to a thinnish wash to create shadows and show up the armour plating, with a little dry-drushing on the 'ribs' to bring out the detail.

Dorsal view. The red stripes were hand painted as the supplied decals were too large and the viewport on the starboard flight-pod 'museum' was made from clear plasticard overlayed with the original decals

Excellent. That's a really interesting kit to have built.

That's what it says on the box, Boss! I guess that it's either the official scale for Battlestars, or a classic 'fit the box' one.
Incidently, scaling her up, It makes the 'real' Galactica around 1300 metres long...

According to the Battlestar Wiki, the Galactica is 1438.64 metres long

My first thought was "Well, that's not that much bigger than a Nimitz class carri...Oh, yeah, metres..."
I'm just slightly gutted that there's no 1/4105 scale airwing of Vipers. Although, dotting the pilots' eyes might be an issue..

You could always scratch build Vipers and maybe even some Raptors
