Mike,

A Bombadier BD-700 (winglets; dihedral tailplane; rear engines in pods - but only two!) was recorded at Cranfield a couple of days previously. My money would be on that, unless it had 'lumps and bumps' and was painted grey with roundels, in which case it was probably one of 5 Sqn's Sentinels (same basic airframe).

Have had four DC-3's fly over my house heading due east toward Xenia, Ohio in the last hour. Haven't seen this many DC-3's since the DC-3 freight line which flew daily trips east to New York closed down in Middletown, Ohio ten years ago. Boy those motors sure sound pretty.

@Steve190 - Oh yes. I remember once chatting with one of the curators of the Midland Air Museum (at Coventry Airport, West Midlands UK), and a lad of about 14 (with his Mum) when we heard this lovely sound, and all went quiet and looked round to watch one Air Atlantique's DC-3 departing.

Dodger, a Sentinel it was and heading towards Cranfield, thank you. Today we had the SkyDiamond from Cranfield flying around and a then Spitfire II NW towards Wellingborough then turning west towards Sywell, lost it then against dark cloud. Lovely Merlin sound.

In town centre today and heard a noise I didn't recognise, looked up and caught sight of a B1 Lancer before a cloud hid it. First one I've seen.

The Northern Ireland air ambulance, a red eurocopter ec-135,
flew low over the house so went to the attic window to watch, circled round a couple of times then landed about a mile, maybe mile and a half away

Friday Aug. 4, Fokker triplane and Nieuport scout presumably en route to Scampton show. On 5th same two returned then a P-51D Mustang in RAF colours, which makes change from the usual shiny ones with exaggerated markings.

Not only but also Cessna O-1E Bird Dog G-VDOG as one of thirty light aircraft visiting a Fly-in at Broomfield Playing Fields adjacent to the Montrose Airfield Museum in Angus. Day 2 1000-1600 tomorrow Sunday 27.08.17 which hopefully will be just as busy. An aviation event only 5 minutes from ones own teapot and toilet is indeed a joy as is no queuing to get in or out and parking along the fenceline - but no fast jets , can't have everything!!!

I saw a BAC Strikemaster overhead a few days ago. I haven't seen one flying for perhaps 30yrs so I was thinking I might need glasses. A quick google revealed there's is still a flying example in NZ: http://www.jetfighter.co.nz/index.php
If it was this aircraft, it was about 240 miles from it's home base - about 1/2 an hour at max speed. :D

This afternoon a Chinook and what was either an Apache or a Merlin(couldn't tell from rear view) flew over Romford, Essex towards London at about 3000 ft.

Some interesting movements heading east over the last week or so. 2 B52s then a B1. Wonder if they're heading for the Afghan theatre or to reinforce further east in view of the Korean situation.

On Sunday I was bowling at Irchester when a Spitfire circled overhead, and it came back an hour or so later :D :Pilot:

B52 over Wellingborough yesterday afternoon.
Grace Spitfire over the stables regularly, when I've been busy with my daughter's pony. Now resident at nearby Sywell. Looking forward to their Buchon being finished!
