Dear all,

I hope this has not been asked before ......

I am interested in the FW 190 kit and I understand this kit is supposed to have some serious problems. I have read on the internet that the engine fit causes problems, for example.

My question is, actually how bad is this one? If it is that poor, can it be easily worked on to correct the engine fit problem or is it not worth the effort considering kit cost

I would really looking like to hear from those who have tackled this one and what (if anything) can be done to successfully put it together.

Regards

Dave

Opinion seems to vary as to the quality of this kit. Some love it and have no issues at all, others hate it. It's just how you approach the build, but I would suggest you constantly test fit and trial what you're doing as it always helps more than you would know :thumb: Also use good refs for the particular Butcher Bird you're doing :thumb:
Try these links, just had to type in "Airfix 1/24scale Focke Wulf 190 review" to find these gems;
http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index ... opic=44825
http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/inde ... -124-conv/
http://www.militarymodelling.com/forums ... p?th=42387

Hope these help, I've one in the stash now, a late Chrissy pres and my first Airfix 1/24scale kit 8-)

There are a number of builds of the kit on this site.

A couple in the 1/24th scale Group Build from 2009:

One in the FW190 Group Build, also from 2009:

One from the 7th Anniversary Group Build in 2013:

There are also a number of good examples in the gallery thread for the kit:

Many thanks, gents

Faaman - thank you for the really useful links. After looking at these, I not sure the kit is worth the effort considering the cost ........

I'll think on this one for a bit.

Dave

Built it last year.

It does require considerable effort, and a large quantity of super glue. The end result is pleasing though.
I would suggest waiting until you see the kit on a special offer. Mine was "free" when purchased with the 1/24 Typhoon.

My two cents worth
The origonal mold was crisper but still had issues
The newer molds are actually still ok with the styrene varying dependant on issue and country of manufacture , there is some flash on occasion , i think this was first issued in 1980

I have a built origonal and two later ones in the stssh
