Just an update regarding Sea Fury T.20 WG655. It is currently in the hangar at Duxford, being converted to a Pratt & Whitney engine with four blade propellor. So it is about to embark on its third re-incarnation in yet another configuration. Big shame that it is losing the Bristol Centaurus engine and five blade prop.

I've obviously missed something here since John Beattie sadly put this aircraft into a field in 1990 and managed a perfect forced landing only to hit the only 2 trees in the field before he could bring it to a stop (he was en-route to display at Silverstone where I was on aeromedevac duty). I know that it was written off and despite it being deemed beyond economic repair was then restored in the US but I'd not heard what had happened to it since. Do you know why they're changing to the P&W? I know that Centaurus spares are like rocking horse doo-doos; was it beyond repair?

Wookie, my post (above) re WG655 has been moved here from this thread,

viewtopic.php?f=171&t=49363#p763927

which covers the PM-212 Sea Fury kit. In moving my post the context has been lost, but you will see that I had described the previous three configurations of Sea Fury T.20 WG655. Hopefully this will answer your query?

Thanks. The bit that I'm still unclear about is what happened to it after it was restored in the US after John's crash. I know it came back here but that was about 5 years ago and I hadn't seen it on the display circuit or in a museum so was unsure what had happened, especially what has led to it needing another engine change.

Best regards
