Again more good progress today, this time with the M151A2 Hard Top Jeep. First off I managed to get the hard top fitted (although the top is still dry fitted to allow me to fit the glazing once painted) and the trailer made up:

Image

Next I built up the wheels and then I applied the first camouflage colour of green:

Image

Once all the colours are applied then the glazing can be fitted, the camouflage will be the European three colour scheme of green, red and black.
More to follow.

Okay as the Bedford MK has completed I thought I'd attack this conversion that I have been contemplating for a while:

ImageImage

First off I took the chassis and added the truck bed to it to give me an idea as to where the tracks should be placed. The fuel tank and ancillary tank on the opposite side have been removed along with the attachment points for the rear springs:

Image

I then made up some side plates to attach to the idler wheels and bogie assemblies:

Image

These were then added to the white metal tracks. I have taken some licence as to how the tracks were driven and attached to each other as there are only a couple of pictures of this prototype on the net, none of which show the underside or rear of the truck. The rear axle has been attached to the drive sprockets. I have also added two side pieces to the chassis to allow the tracks to sit in the correct position and to look like the pictures that I have found. Here's what I've ended up with:

Image

and here is how it sits (dry fitted at present):

Image

Now allowing it to dry before proceeding further.

Very cool conversion - I've never heard of it before, but I like it a lot.
Nice work so far - it seems to be sitting with all it's feet on the ground so that's a good start. :clapping:

More work on the Matador Halftrack. After studying the photo again I noticed that there were some springs showing through the track running gear:

http://www.nevingtonwarmuseum.com/uploa ... 0_orig.jpg

So I thought I better try to duplicate them. As I was doing the QL Refueller kit bash I knew I had some springs left from the original Bedford Refueller so I decided to utilise those:

Image

Now it was time to marry the track gear with the body/chassis:

Image

Not terribly pretty and I'm sure not as to how the original was from underneath, however I think it passes muster from the sides and possibly the rear:

ImageImage

More will follow.

Bit of work this afternoon. A painting afternoon. First off I managed to get the running gear painted black on the Matador Tanker:

Image

Then I turned my attention to the M151A2 Jeep and got the first coats of the camo paint on:

ImageImage

This now needs to 'cure' overnight before another coat is applied.
Then finally I've done the preliminary paint on the track gear on the Matador Halftrack:

Image

That's all for the present, more soon.
Thanks for looking in :thumb:

More progress today. Was going to start the day with the M151A2 Jeep however I've just discovered I don't have the red top coat paint I require and neither does my LMS, so I've had to order that online so I've shelved the Jeep for the time being. Undeterred I have tackled my other Jeep project, the Armoured WW2 variety. It is now sporting the main armour and the 'bagged' windscreen and sandbags:

Image

Whilst this lot is drying I continued with the Matador Halftrack. I have constructed the body's tilt (dry fitted at present) and also the cab also dry fitted to the chassis with the roof only resting so that I can glaze the inside, wheels are also only placed so that I can see how it's going to look:

Image

More soon.

Still making progress with these. First off the Armoured Jeep had it's front bumper fitted and then was given a first coat of OD to see where things still need fettling:

Image

As you can see some of the 'armour' needed a bit of a file, another coat should see it sorted.
Next up I decided to cement the tank to the Matador Refueller and also to add the white metal wheels:

Image

This still needs some glazing, plus apart from the mudguards and spare wheel, some smaller detailed parts.
I then got the paintwork on the QL Refueller done:

Image

It'll need a little clean up but it's getting there.
Finally I went back to the Halftrack. I finished the assembly of the cab, painted the interior and then added the glazing. Here it is:

Image

I have also cemented the tilt to the body now, however the cab roof is still dry fitted at present along with the wheels:

Image

Next up for this one will be a full paint once the roof is cemented in place.
More to follow.

That looks cool. Reminds me of the sort of vehicles used on polar expeditions - now there's a thought, an AEC half-track in day-glow orange. :D

More progress today as the paint arrived for the M151A2:

ImageImage

As you can see the top coat of red is much darker in colour.
Next I continued with the armoured jeep and I have now got most of the construction done and stowage fitted:

ImageImage

Paint now up next for this one.
Finally for today I have now added the cab roof to the Matador and fitted it to the chassis. Its also had a coat of green on the body and an earth colour for the sides of the tilt:

Image

This will be finished in Mickey mouse camo scheme as shown on the photos from the net.
More to follow, although unlikely to be any more progress with these until next Monday as I won't have the access to the Study where I work to do the painting until then.
May have to start some others as at least I'm allowed to assemble kits on the dining room table

As stated yesterday no progress with the others as I'm confined to the dining room table so I thought I'd have a go at this:

Image

with this conversion kit:

Image

To make a late model M3A5. After a couple of hours I had this:

Image

The conversion parts are the yellow ones. I'll just need a little filler where the back panel fits against the hull top, which you can see on the picture. Other than that and making sure that the conversion parts were trimmed properly, it went together quite well once I'd straightened the side panels in hot water.
More to follow

Been a busy day today but not of the modelling kind
However I did manage to steal a few minutes and got the M151A2 decaled:

ImageImage

I love the tiger!

Next up some 'glass' and then onto adding some details before matting and weathering.
