I'm making the Airfix 1/350 Trafalgar Class Submarine and just started fitting the WEM Photo Etch:
Image

Here you can see the three hatches and two loading hatches in position. Torpedo tube doors have also been fitted:
Image

Now, I can understand why some people would like to replace the kit propulsor blades with the PE versions but I am not really in the mood to fit 19 blades. :fear: Anyway, the kit version (below) is fine for my purposes:
Image

I will be finishing this boat as HMS Trenchant in her multi-coloured experimental scheme which she only wore for two weeks.

It's certainly not the hardest I've done, Ratch. Just can't be bothered with those blades!

I started to give my HMS Trenchant the first coat of H67 Tank Grey:
Image

To a different subject now - my HobbyBoss Zero which has been lanquishing in a semi-complete state for weeks. I applied a coat of H64 Light Grey overall as primer and painted the first coat of H149 Dark Green:

The lower hull of my HMS Trenchant the first coat of H67 Tank Grey last night. The propulsor shroud has been painted internally and fitted in place. I have to say that the paint is very streaky despite almost stirring through the bottom of the tin. It is still tacky days after application with a hairy stick. I'll use another tin for the top coat:
Image

My HobbyBoss Zero received it's second coat of H149 Dark Green and in contrast to the Tank Grey (above) is a delight to paint with:
Image

Both will get another coat, the sub possibly two.

My Zero has now received it's third and final coat of H149 Dark Green:

Also painted the canopy, tyres and fuel tank. Next up is to mask off and paint the yellow leading edges and paint the guns.

I've had a solely "wingy" session today so that I can get this HobbyBoss Zero out of the way! I painted the cannons, masked and painted the leading edges, fitted the cowling, wheels and wheel doors:
Image

I then applied some Klear and got down to some decalling:
Image

Almost finished now. Canopy has just had a second coat of H149 Dark Green and once fitted, another "quick build" will be complete. Then I can try and concentrate on the "floaty" builds!!

Thanks Jeremy.

I had intended to use a mix of H50 Green mist and H52 Baltic Blue originally. However, I opened a tin of H65 Aircraft Blue to paint something else and decided to use the transluscent part it from it unstirred as it had a greeny-blue tint.

Thanks, James. Whilst happy with the Zero, I am not happy with the painting of the sub. Have ordered a new batch of paint from Vince in the hope it will go on better.

Lovely work on the canopy, Dave. Did you mask it off or do it freehand ?

Nice job on On the Zero. Freehand and cocktail stick is my weapon of choice i have tried masking canopy but allways  mess it up. Mike
