I bought several boxes of these when they were re-released a few years back. I have finished off the paintwork and, as there is no thread for them in the gallery, I thought I would add one:

These were impressive figures for me many years ago.

Absolutely superb! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
The absolute knock out punch about your work for me, is that for all your lovely detail, like the stripes and hat braiding etc the figures do not look like they've had a 'Make-over' or have been 'Digitally airbrushed', they retain their authentic 'Warts and all' Airfixness - top, top work!

Beautifully done, as usual, Paul! I thought you might like to see what I did with them a while back, as I wanted them for Civil War duties and the Airfix figures aren't as accurate as they might be, as PSR points out. You'll note that I've tried to tackle the bandoliers in particular and played around with the yellow trim a bit. Lively figures though and the rearing horse is a delight.

They look great :thumb:
The rearing horse is one of my favourite horse poses.
I´m just finished with the 1st 16 (1x Confederate, 1x Union) and I´ve started another 16..the attaching the nags securely to thier bases and converting so the figs look more like CSA takes up a lot of time though :geek:

I've always fancied doing the conversion to the CSA, but ended up using Italeri's Confederate cavalry for some reason, perhaps because no conversion was needed...!

They're superb, David! :wow:
I like mechanized armies, but I kept a part of my heart to these cavalry sets!

Thanks, Danny - it's lovely rediscovering old figures like these, and when you paint them you often notice details you'd barely been aware of before!
