This is the Saracen I built for my son (he wanted to have it after he saw my Saladin kit):

It's done with a bit of "standard weathering" (matte varnish with black pigments) only, because he didn't wanted it dirty...

This is my quick build, a week-end project, just for fun : OOB and probably a wrong place for the front licence plate.

Adding the base really puts it in context and brings it to life. Nice work.

Built a couple of Saracens lately , they are both the airfix boxing , the 1st one is an armoured ambulance version, these were seen in Northern Ireland up to about the mid 1980's ,the only mod's I done was filling and smoothing the roof and adding Red Cross decals the second Saracen is meant to represent a Saracen of the BOAR ,for this I opened the roof hatch and placed a matchbox para in the hole, the commander and driver figures are from wee friends models ImageImage

Very nicely done! The figures really set off the BOAR version.

Here's my second attempt with this kit. Have added more detail to the bonnet and rear doors. Shortened the body by around 2mm or so, used the Wee Friends white metal wheels and axles to correct the ride height, used some larger headlamps and used one of the originals to form the searchlight on the turret, replaced the Bren gun with one from the Airfix QLT, added copper wire aerials instead of the 'poles' provided, used some Little Cars side, tail and indicators and some gemstones for the headlamps. Finally I added some mirrors from card and rod and added some stowage from the spares box:

Nice Saracen! :thumb:
The lights make a difference but what really struck me was the change in the ride height achieved by using the Wee Friends wheels and suspension
Another kit to re-visit.
Cheers
David
