My take on the Buffalo

79th Armoured Division adapted some of the LVT-2 to carry the 17pdr Anti-tank gun to support river crossings...not sure how effective it would have been though...

After experiences on the River Scheldt a further variant added a mat laying device so that DD Shermans could climb slippery mud banks.

Hi Stu

I was inspired by your 17pdr conversion in Conversion Corner and like you used Geoff Futters excellent 79th Armoured Division book.  Not sure if they were ever used in anger though...

Amazing jobs on all of your AmTracs, very inspiring   :thumb:

I was just wondering if you guys used acrylic or enamel paints, and what weathering products did you use?

and to Tom Tank, how did you make the turret for your Buffalo, and the back part of your other one, as the turreted one doesn,t look like it's from Dragon, and the other one I can,t Find ANYwhere

Thanks and keep up the incredible work :D

Hi FF.  The models are both Airfix Buffaloes.  The Amtank has a turret from the Revell (Ex Matchbox Stuart) and the rear of the earlier Amtrack is scratchbuilt.  The early troop carriers had the engine to the rear so troops had to clamber over the sides (Under fire in some cases).  I used drawings in George Bradford's books and more details are in the Media and Publications thread under "Build and Convert Airfix Military Models" http://airfixtributeforum.myfastforum.o ... x+military

Mine's definetly not as good as the rest here,  (It was more of an experiment for weathering). It will be in my Iwo Jima Diorama. Practicaly OOB, except I moved the two 30.cal's ti the front and made bullet shields out of an ice cream container.

I didn't use the 20mm, and I'm wondering if anyone knows what's the full name, as there are many guns that use 20mm bullets :?

Nice work on the weathering.

I believe the 20mm is supposed to be a Polsten, though the magazine looks like the standard Oerlikon one, rather than the one designed for the Polsten.

Very nice work on both, though as you say the turret may be a bit big... :clapping:
