Hello everyone ! I'm from the East Midlands, Leicester to be exact, I am a member of another forum and this forum was suggested to me as I have a question about a specific Airfix model Kit The "Bentley blower" I was wondering if there were any After market pieces out there ? in particular rubber tyres for this build ? any help would be greatly appreciated.
Galahad.

If you're talking about the 1:12 scale kit, I have to say that I don't think so, but some others may know of their existence (e.g. Arni). You're unlikely to find rubber tyres as AM items, though. Resin, maybe.

Welcome.

There is a guy in Portugal who makes wire wheels for the kit
Price is about £85 for 4, for a fifth wheel its an extra £30 [prices are approximate]

That's a better price. Still, I think it's about what I paid for my kit!

Err, but - the OP specifically asked for 'tyres' (why is this a (1/24) subject close to my heart?) and the wire wheel sets exclude tyres ...

Thje Airfix kit is 1/12. The Heller/Revell kit is 1/24

Thanks, fred - I was aware of that, but having bought the Revell 1/24 Bentley with only 3 tyres (saved by then buying the Heller with 6!) I am conscious of just how crippling it is to lack tyres, whatever the scale. Since Galahad asked in particular for tyres, I'm guessing he's short of one or more - anyone with more knowledge of 1/12 construction than I have might just be able to help him out if there is someone who manufactures such things.

@Galahad - The scale was pretty vital here, because there are at least 4 different Bentley "blower" kits, one each in 1/12 and 1/32 scale by Airfix, and 2 in 1/24, that I know of.

"Stickies" is short for "sticky posts"; If you look at viewforum.php?f=460 the first 6 posts with the "! in a splodge" icon beside them are the stickies.

Live and learn! I only knew about the Humbrol kit in 1:24 - which is a corker.

Wow! I was not aware of FROG's Bentley. It would make more sense to me that Revell's is a repop of that than the Heller/Humbrol one.

As this seems to have turned into an unofficial survey of 'Blower' kits, in the interests of completeness, there is another 1/32 version, originally by Pyro, and reboxed by Life Like; very similar breakdown of parts to the Airfix kit, but with better wheels.

And another 1/24 version, in white metal, by South Eastern Finecast (they do sell their wheels, complete with tyres, separately but at an eye-watering price).

Is the SEF a 'blower' DD? I can't see from the pics, and I've never owned one...

No, it isn't, RL, although you're right the SEF pics aren't very good and there could well be a supercharger hiding in the gloom up front. It's actually the normally aspirated 1928 Le Mans winner, so different crankshaft, pistons and lube system as well (for those modelling such detail in 1/24).

@Dordogne Dodger - And radiator shell, since the "normal" Bentley shell didn't have the base cut out for the blower to hang off the crankshaft nose. (oh and front cross member since they wouldn't need the support for the blower nose either)

The FROG kit was a reissue of one from Sangyo, which may well be the same as the Midori. I think it may have appeared in a Revell box as well, in the early 1980s.
