Hi Dave
I'm just getting into model making after a 50+ year layoff and bought this kit in a gift set
I find the painting instructions somewhat baffling though, so could you advise me.

The kit comes complete with 5 paint colour pots;
007 [*] Black gloss
009 [D] Anthracite Grey matt
090 [C] Silver metallic
091 [*] Steel metallic
099 [A] aluminium metallic
However, 007 (90%)and 091 (10%) are shown as [E]. Therefore are these supposed to be mixed?

The instructions shows additional required used colours. Therefore I need to buy these to complete the kit, but not sure if they should be the Revell Aqua Color
302 [B] Black Silky matt
332 [*] Luminous Red silky matt
001 [*] Clear Gloss
078 [G] Tank Grey matt
371 [H] Light Grey silky matt
382 [I] Wood Brown silky matt
093 [K] Copper metallic
Similarly 001 and 332 are shown as [F], but with no percentage!

The page showing the parts included are shown on another page, boxed with the letter codes [A] to [F], so I assume these are the colours to be painted
Within the assembly, there are further painting instructions eg, exhaust parts 15 to 18 initially [E], but then shown as [C] upper, [D] lower

Did you brush paint or spray.
Hope you can help

I have split this question from the Gallery thread and placed in a more appropriate forum.

a. Colour "E" is indeed a mix of 007 (Gloss Black) (90%) and 091 (Metallic Steel) (10%)

b. Colour "F" is an undercoat of 332 (Silky-Matt Luminous Red) followed by a top coat of 1 (Gloss Varnish)

c. The exhaust pipes (parts E15-E18) are painted overall with Colour "C" - 90 (Metallic Silver). The rims and holes at the end of the exhaust pipes are painted 9 (Matt Anthracite Grey)

d. The large letters (A-F) displayed on the page showing the parts on the sprues have nothing to do with paint colours. They are the identifying letters for each sprue which have corresponding letters moulded on them too.

e. The paint numbers required for the build may be Revell Enamels or the Revell Aqua equivalent.

f. My build was almost completely airbrushed:

Dave, thanks for the explanation
Years ago I only used the oil paints and brushed them, but as the new kit has the Aqua Color it seems a better way to go.
I'm looking at getting an airbrush with compressor as it appears there will be a better finish
