If you have the decals, you may find the tactical markings here

Thanks Ratch - after much googling I managed to find the details I wanted - 4th Battalion The Royal Tank Regiment, 4th Armd Brigade, 7th Armd Division :)

This is just about the best place to check for British markings.

At the time of Alamein Matildas were with 1st Army Tank Brigade, 44 & 42 RTR units detached to 8th Army HQ with Scorpion flails and carried no tactical markings. No gun armd Matildas took part. My son-in-law's grandfather commanded one.
