If you use the voucher your membership is really free, I had my £20 club voucher changed to a £15 website voucher from last years membership and just go to Duxford or the Fleet air arm museum and get a Bogof offer and you're quids in

The £15 voucher is now the standard for those joining the Club
From the website;
'£15 Gift Card** to spend on the website'

Yes, there are no club exclusives any more so they had to change the terms

I opted to try this out for myself, having never been a member before, but having read many comments on here.

For my £15 fee I got Mrs lof03 into Yeovilton for free (a bit awkward with a download), £15 off an order from the website (after a little bit of faffing with the voucher, and frustration that they don't have a decent stick of their own paints and glues) and I can probably trade in a couple of Flying Hours Passports.

Yes there are some minor frustrations - if only I could get a Series 9 with flying hours, or that Series 8 that is just out of stock, the magazine is almost worthless to me and slight annoyance that I couldn't use my 10% discount and £15 off together which I didn't think was clearly stated. I probably won't use the 10% off.

Overall though without any preconceptions from years gone by I think it is pretty good for a company that has been struggling, if you time it right. I doubt I'll renew but I like to think both me and Airfix have done OK out of it. The flying hours renewal is worth it alone for me. If there really wasn't anything I wanted I could always save up the hours, swap or sell them.

I've just used the £15 voucher from last year to renew the airfix club by email , different nembership number , but bonus another £15 voucher ....the club could be self perpetuating if the price stays at £15 per year for a while atleast!

Hmmm I've just checked the Airfix club website and it seems the 2 for 1 at Duxford and Fleet Air Arm museum offers have gone.....I was going to FAAM this week. Tipical

Just spent my club voucher on the USAAF re-supply set and a 1:72 Mustang to make up the postage. Got 10% discount (£3) so ended paying £12 for the pair and free postage! To date for my £15 membership fee I've got £36 back including the £18 free admission at Duxford last summer...and I still have a load of FH to exchange...:-)

What are the current discount offers for members? I didn't renew this time but it may become financially worthwhile if the discounts correspond to destinations for my summer holidays in England. I can't view what they currently are because they are listed on the members page.

The 2 for 1 offers are not as good as the past.

Science museum , London (I guess it is for the special exhibitions as general entry is free anyway)

Didcot Railway, in, er, Didcot .

Combined military services museum, in the services hotbed of Maldon, Essex (well it's about 20 miles from Colchester)

and the Hornby visitor centre which comes with a 20% discount in the shop.

Nothing I'd go out of my way to visit because of the 2-4-1 personally, unless there was something really good at the science museum, and thats just because I am only a tube ride away.

Thanks Roo, that is a helpful reply. My wife and I will be visiting into London at least on occasion so we'll see if the Science Museum is suitably interesting and whether any saving from special exhibits would lead me to purchase the Airfix Club membership before I go.

In the new Club Magazine they've provided a Product Suggestion Form with 14 boxes!

Personally I think this should've waited until after they'd announced the 2018 range. It's a bit of a waste putting something down if it's all ready to go for next year anyway.

Why would I do that Tom? It's more fun to fill those holes by chopping about the ones they have tooled. :pirate:
