Hopefully someone can help. I'm looking for a scan of a picture of a Bf109 that said to be on page 26. This 109 is wearing the rather odd markings of 12+GH (It has since been repainted as 'Black 12'). This aircraft was on static display at the Chivenor Air Day of 1969. I need to know what it looked like at the show.

Cheers.

Hi Spudgun, Just looked at the Nov 1961 Airfix Mag and there is a very small ( 53 by 47 mm. ) photo of a 109 on page 266. The caption states that it was taken at Biggin Hill on Sept 16th as part of the Battle of Britain display. I have scanned it at 600 D.P.I. but no idea how to post it here. If you let me have your E-mail address then perhaps I could send it to you direct as an attachment.
Regards, Dave Jones

Four pics of it here.

Edit. A fifth pic shows the top of the wing, certainly interesting scheme & strange seeing an Erla Haube canopy on an E.
The spotty Fw190 looks quite nice also.

Many thanks for the link! Most useful.

The canopy is well documented. At one time, the hood was missing, so they fitted one that was handy. It wasn't replaced with the correct one until 1970, when the 109 was restored.

All I have to do now is work out the colours!
