Need the cockpit decals on then seal the fuselage halves together.

After putting the engine inserts on the wing, the bomb engine was fitted into the bay then the covers and support arms attached and painted.

Camo started, the acrylic Hu163 is being a bit opaque but hopefully the next coat will sort it before masking for the black. Everything fitting fine ATM.

Fuselage windows? After my experience with the FE, I've left them off and will use PVA at the end of the build.

Cheers guys.

Hi John: Nice build John :D Did you have any fit problems with the fuselage? And if so, how did you solve the problems. I had an awful fit problem and gap behind the bomb bay door, and all along the length of the bay door sides were badly warped. You have moved along much faster than I have. Great build. :thumb:

Hi Ken, thanks.

I did not have a problem with the fit of the fuselage parts, don't know wxif it was because of how I put it together, or if I had a kit that wasn't warped. This was my process.

Internals built up using a fuselage half as a jig and applying a very small amount of extra thin on the parts, waiting for it to cure then applying some more after I had removed it from the fuselage, this was to ensure everything lined up.

I painted both the internals and the inside of the fuselage but not the wing spars.

Opened up the slots for the spars slightly as these are a very tight and I didn't want to damage either the spars or cause a pressure bulge in the fuselage which would affect the fit of the halves.

I removed any paint from the joining faces of the fuselage halves and from inside the channels in the fuselage where the bomb bay floor and internal bulkheads fit.

I dry fitted everything together to make sure it all lines up.

I used a normal poly cement in the bulk channels on one half of the fuselage (as it has a longer curring time), put everything together again and whilst holding it all lined up applied some extra thin sparingly to the join of the bomb bay to the fuselage on the half which also had cement in the bulkhead channel. When that had gone off I removed the fuselage half and applied more extra thin to the joins in batches so as not to affect the alignment.

To join the fuselage, I put cement in the bulkhead channels, put it together then used extra thin at the bomb bay/ fuselage floor join while squeezing it together. Then gradually went along with extra thin trying to get as smooth a join as possible before moving further around the fuselage.

When done I applied some extra thin to the spar/fuselage join as well.

Bit wordy, but hope it helps. For my next one I think I will cut some thin masking tape strips and put them in the bulkhead/bomb bay floor channels prior to painting the internal surfaces instead of having to clean them.
