I was at Portsmouth in May 1969, when the NATO Fleet celebrated the 20th anniversary of the NATO. Any NATO Navy had sent vessels, that lay in roads at Spithead near Portsmouth. I was on German frigate "Karlsruhe" and the Queen was on her yacht "Britannia" reviewing the parade. It was the first royal NATO Fleet review and quite an event. The civilians of Portsmouth visited the ships and we sailors visited Portsmouth and London. Sweet memories!
