sometimes I have found that PB can be VERY slow and it seems that it s not working so I would suggest you try and load the said photo and leave for a while. If its apparent its not loading then i can only suggest 'reload'

I got an email from my photo-hosting website that they are closing down on January 1st 2016. So I have one month to find a new hosting site and replace photos on here and other forums. I have an account with photo-bucket but every time I go there it messes up my computer. I also have one on picturetrail but I think I used up the free storage on that one. Any other ones which can be recommended?

I use Google Photos. Unlimited storage if you store your photos at their recommended resolution (up to 16 megapixels I think they say), and free.

Google Picasa is going to be partly folded into Google Photos as of the 1st May 2016 (Google Blog), it's not clear if this will break existing links to images when it happens, though using Google Photos you can still get a direct link for embedding in forum posts when using Photos (right click, copy image location - not share as this just gives a link to a webpage), although you have to edit the end of the very long URL to change the image size. It sounds like Picasa will be kept as a separately accessible service, but might be made read & delete-only, with no new content uploads.

Does anyone know how to use the new setup that Google have made to Picasa (now Google photos)?
I'm struggling to understand how to use the new format and can't find out how to share the images on the forum now.

Hey all.
Is anyone else having issues uploading images from Picasa desktop to Google Photos? Every time I try to upload new photos to Google Photos it keeps giving me an error message and asks me to retry. When I click retry, the same error message comes up. Now I can't upload any images to my Google Photos albums, nor can I post them here.

Any ideas guys?

Flickr is the way forward. Simple upload, great privacy controls, and an easy cut and paste for link codes

It seems Google has problems with Picasa and the old upload system. Many other users having the same issues. Unfortunately, Picasa was the easiest program for me to use for editing and uploading. I'm not messing around with the new Google Photos app because it means multiple uploads and downloads just to get the edit. I'm hoping this is just a temporary glitch and Google will fix it (unlikely though because they no longer support Picasa).

Have now moved to Google. PB was failing to load. Is there any way to shorten the link in GB ?

Bumping this forward
A number of us on here will be affected by Photobucket's extortion; $399.99 a year so we can put photos on forums

I've resurected a couple of photo hosting sites I had opened; PictureTrail, imgur, Flickr. ImageShack, but I'm not getting far with any except PictureTrail

On PB I had main Albums and within these I had sub-albums to keep photos together; eg I had an album for Group Builds 2017, within that I had four sub-albums, Jan-March, April - June etcetera
So far I can only see that Flickr might allow some sub-albums and it has Collection which can have sub-collections but I cannot get photos into either Albums or Collections.
I cannot see any guidelines, or info on how to do anthing on any of these hosting sites
Is there a how-to-do for dummies like me?

All help greatfully received

Like a lot of others, I've been done over by photobucket. All of my pictures have disappeared from the ATF. I'm really rather angry about this. No warning, no consultation, just a demand for $400.

As a consequence, I've deleted my photobucket account. If enough people do this, it might give them pause to reconsider.

Hi fred
With Flickr you can put images into albums ( or multiple albums ie 'all models' and ' railway models' ). You can do this either at the import stage, or you can further organize them once imported. You can manage the privacy as well so for me, my aviation and wildlfe photography is public, but the ATF images are all private so only people (you guys) who get the link can see them. I should hopefully be back inthe UK this week end, if you would like more detailed info on the processes and posibilities, comment here and I can knock up a quick 'how to' guide :thumb:

smugmug has, for the last few days at least, been making an 'introductory first year' price offer. I paid £35.67, instead of about £47
Rather quite a difference in PR to what P/b has been doing

[thanks fireboot. by the time you wrote that I'd settled in with smugmug]

Can someone suggest an alternative to Photobucket for posting pictures to the Gallery?

I started trying Imgur. Seems rather easy. Has anybody experience with this hosting site ? Do they ask payment after a certain number of pictures ?
