Dave,

That is some great work, your skill with stretched sprue is most impressive. I always seem to manage to overdo it with the liquid poly when working with finely stretched sprue ending up with goop! I'm not much better with wire and CA either.....I tend to wind up with more handles stuck to me than to the kits! :D

What weathering processes and products do you intend to use? I have used the Tamiya products with limited sucess and am about to order the MiG Productions range of powders to see if they are easier to use.

All the best

Thanks Sarge!

Unfortunately, I am out of Katy mode at the moment. As you saw, I was really in the groove with this build and was able to build it in pretty quick time (for me) even though I added some extra detailing. Now I have left it for a week, I find that I am not really in the mood to go near it again! Because of this, I will not attempt any sort of weathering until I feel up to it. As for the weathering processes, I haven't yet decided what to use.

Dave

Not just yet. I have tooooooo many other projects and semi-complete builds to finish first!

Looks fantastic!

Have to agree with Owen, one of the worst kits I have made and I too gave up halfway through!

Thanks Ratch :D

I must admit that I often don't even have the patience to do a straight forward build, let alone scratch-building! But, when I'm in the mood, almost anything is possible! With Katy, the mood just happened to last long enough!

I have finally decided (with much prompting from the wife) that Katy will not have any weathering. So, I can definitely say "Build is complete". Sounds nice that - just a shame I don't say it often enough!

Cor! Look at all the cobwebs on this thread!

I don't have the correct measurements and the ambulance was binned years ago. Looking at the stretcher provided in the kit the "canvas" was 26mm long and 10mm wide - excluding the handles which extended 6mm out at each end. The ones I scratchbuilt for this build had a 2mm narrower "canvas" than the one provided in the kit but were the same length. The handles were a bit shorter.

That's a shame after all the (very useful) research and detail work you put in to it Dave.
I'm referring to your guide as I build my own Katy at the moment. Currently scratch building the rear step !
