Great Saladin, my Dad used to drive, then command, (is that the correct word), during his stint in the Army, in Germany.

Thank you for the appreciation :) I suppose that would've been quite fun Mike, if he could've ignored the looming spectre of world war 3? Here is another.

Matchbox/Revell 1/76 M16 Halftrack (PK-78/03228)
Normandy 1944

This is probably one of my favourite vehicles ever, bristling with firepower. I left the driver door open on this Revell boxing, presumably he has abandoned his colleague in the turret to get a shovel ond fix the railway

Tamiya 1/35 M16 US Mulitple Gun Motor Carriage (MMS No. 81)
I thought my brother's Matchbox one was so cool I made the Tamiya version many years ago, maybe mid 90s. I was encouraged to "frame" the dios with these wooden sections cut using a mitre block and stained by me. I loved the models but that bit seemed like a faff so I am glad to get back to the pre-made Matchbox ones.

I like both, very nicely displayed. BTW, my Dad told me, he was patrolling one side of a river, (in his Saladin), and his Russian counterpart was doing the same, on the other side, (in a T34), so it was lucky WW3 didn't start.

I like both Half Tracks, although I build only 1/72 to 1/87.
Very good work, Lof03!

Wow, that's a grim responsibility Mike, plus I don't fancy the chances of a Saladin against a T-34... Thanks all for the kind comments. I have finished another one now.

Emhar 1/72 Mk A Whippet (EM5004)
A delightfully simple kit that was a real pleasure to build. As such I spent a bit of extra effort putting lighter shading on the panels and raised detail with the airbrush. I don't normally do this as although it does look cool I'm not convinced it gets the look that looks truly right to me - maybe a bit cartoony in some cases. It does give another way break up the colour though. I like the overall look of this one.

Looks great Lof, also very cramped, (especially in the Turret).

I like very much your model, Lof03!
The Whippet was a very good tank. It had a crew of three men (very cramped indeed) and was a step ahead from the Mark IV losange tanks. It was fastest and could reach a speed of 13km/h (8,3mph)
It was armed with 3 Hotchkiss MG.
During the Kaiserlacht Offensive of 1918, the Whippets covered the retreat of infantry units. 7 tanks destroyed 2 German Infantry Batallions with the machive guns, killing more than 400, on april 24, 1918.
During the Battle of Amiens -in august 1918- one Whippet named "Musical Box" reach the German rearguard and, althouh isolated, struggled the German troops during 9 hours, destroying an artillery battery, an observation balloon, an infantry Batallion Camp and a transport convoy, killing a lot of men. Finally, "Musical Box" was destroyed by a German gun, although only one of the crew members died; the other were taken prisoners.
